I like your reasons, I'm also really worried that with all the mud on the street that the lighter coloured lines will get marked and not be able to clean it off. I'm getting another quote today so I will see what they say And thanks Onc too No probs. I had never thought of the dirt issue and think that it is actually a big thing especially at the moment with the amount of mud and dirt flying around with the wind Our driveway is pretty dirty at the moment and needs a good hose down. So yep definitely something to take on board. My sister had a new driveway done last year. She had stamped. They poured the concrete which was a plain colour then threw two different colours on top, I think one was the base colour and the other a release (?) colour or something and then the guys had these big rubber stamps which they knelt on and went along the driveway to give the pattern. It's very time consuming and most people charge more for it or as C&D said refuse to do it. Our stencil was done exactly like C&D said, they laid the stencil and troweled over it to indent the pattern and then pulled it off. It came in a long continuous roll about 1m wide (or less?). Didn't take them too long to do it. Also with stamped the deeper the grooves/pattern the more leaves and stones etc get stuck in them. I actually like the look of stamped but DH didn't want the grooves due to the last sentence and stencil isn't as slippery or maybe that has something to do with the sealer Here are some blogs I follow, they both have stamped driveways if you want to have a look. http://mmscremorne.blogspot.com/2008/07 ... veway.html http://wallace-cremorne41.blogspot.com/ ... pdate.html Carmel we haven't had any trouble with ours cracking at the moment. I guess if/when it does it won't be as noticeable...... I hope! Honestly, why does this stuff have a theme? The man I asked to help me with finding a stud finder was v.cute. I was blushing. When I returned later for screws and saw him I went and found them myself Sorry, off the topic a little. Re: Types of coloured concrete 26Aug 06, 2009 6:18 pm We do a fair bit of 'epoxy crack injection', we use things called 'junket pumpers' I'm glad you don't distract my team onc_artisan Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Types of coloured concrete 27Aug 07, 2009 2:34 pm Thanks C& D and moderator for explaining the difference between the two. H2B, the M&M blog shows very clearly the steps of the stamped one. I found a link of how the stenciled is done. http://www.dareconcrete.com/stencil_steps.htm So may I know is stenciled concrete also called spray on stencil? Or different thing? Thanks v much. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9795 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10890 |
