Turns out that the land owner did a private sale on the same night and didnt tell my real estate. They had the owners signature, I just had the real estate so they got the block and I didnt. Just bad luck and a lack of communication really. Thats life! I have had one extension on the land, so fingers crossed I dont need another. Finance is taking ages, im in the same boat as everyone else. When things are out of your control there doesnt seem much point in stressing, so I will just sit back and see what happens Re: shans house- my own thread!! 26Aug 10, 2009 3:17 pm That sucks! was the block you have now much different from the one you missed out on.? When i found the block i wanted and decided on it i would've been devastated if i didn't get it! The downside is I am now one block closer to the noisy corner and that was number 8, my favourite number I was tempted to give my new neighbours the evil eye but its not their fault, so I got over it. Re: shans house- my own thread!! 28Aug 10, 2009 11:21 pm I only got my block because finance fell through for the lady who was going to buy it. She went into hospital and couldn't get a loan anymore (or something along those lines). It was the last one in the release and I was offered it because I emailed the builder (I was in my initial stages of research on different builders) and he'd only received the email from the lady 5 mins beforehand. So he called me, told me how to get there and then asked me to call him straight back if I liked it. He said he could hold it for 24 hours before telling anyone else about it, and the 48 if I wanted to sign up for it. He was nice, and gave me a bit of extra time to decide. I got the call and saw the land on Saturday (loved it!), met with him on Sunday to look at possible plans and then visited one of the display houses I liked the plan of the same day, fell in love with the display house, told him I wanted to go ahead with it on Monday and then signed prelim on Tuesday. It was a bit of a whirlwind, but the builder was so good and explained everything to me very clearly, and I felt comfortable with it all. It's all gone smoothly so far apart from the council issues. So, while I didn't really know what I was getting myself into, it's all turned out really well so far! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! I think this must be a good thing!! Hopefully this means the unconditional finance cant be far off, because my land is due this Friday. I have applied for second land extension in case. Hopefully this is a sign that things are happening! woo hoo! My broker stuffed up and somehow gave them my incorrect address (a previous rental) and it was just lucky I was still redirecting mail from there (over a year later!) cause they not only sent them to the wrong place, but they had to re-send them all cause they needed to have my correct address on the forms. Though i bought land independent of builder and already had land settlement. About to go for finance for house, which is more expensive than land and more difficult as they have to valuate it and all. Keep us updated on how things are progressing.
