Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 04, 2009 9:53 pm Hi all, thought it was about time I had my own thread instead of hijacking yours Bit about me: building in Bertram, WA. Had prestart, got my building licence, just waiting for unconditional finance. All has been wonderful so far, had a few land dramas, but u have to expect a few hiccups, its all part of the experience right. I realised how easily u can stress about this house stuff, especially colour selections, so i decided to ask myself if it would matter in 20 years before i made a decision, and now.....nothing stresses me out! (I also drink lots of chamomile tea, and when that fails, lots of red wine... it helps maintain my relaxed attitude ) Colour choices off the top of my head: roof, gutter, fascia:jasper downpipes, front door: paperbark, think the door was called madeley? bricks: austral naturaliste interior: kitchen benchtop: cocoa nougat doors: moleskin bathroom benchtops: stipple seal (if that is even a colour) doors: alaskan bathrooms tiles: floor, lanka latte, border: chocolate stricia (i think thats how u spell it, its from crosby and looks like a barcode) thats all I can remember! Will put up some photos when I can can work that part out Re: shans house- my own thread!! 2Aug 04, 2009 10:08 pm Yay! Shanana has a thead! So excited for you! I have lanka latte tiles too (everywhere that I'm having tiles it's latte!!!) I know those bathroom border tiles! I didn't mind those ones, but loved my cocoa frieze! And I'm having Stipple Cocoa instead of Stipple Seal. Stipple Seal benchtop and Alaskan is VERY similar to my friend's house, although her doors are a light brown/white wood colour rather than greyish. I'll get a photo for you! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: shans house- my own thread!! 3Aug 04, 2009 10:18 pm hahaha, im a shanana!! i love it! thought we might have some similar colour choices annie, seeing as we are both warm neutral colours. i love ur bathroom border tiles, but it was an upgrade for me and alas, there is no room in my budget for upgrades Alot of my choices were last minute, I was up north and I had a call from the builder with a prestart appointment the day after I got back! I had 2 hours the next morning to choose everything before prestart, talk about pressure! Re: shans house- my own thread!! 4Aug 04, 2009 10:24 pm Hhaa thats what I always say. Will we really care about this or that in ten years time. Ultimately its gutter or a door or something lol Who is your builder?? Re: shans house- my own thread!! 5Aug 04, 2009 10:33 pm Yeah, my builder is pretty good at organising stuff quickly! I had a week's notice for my prestart! If only the council was so good! My upgraded tiles only cost an extra $120 or so for each bathroom. My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Make sure you show us photos whenever you get something together, that's part of the "own thread" deal Re: shans house- my own thread!! 12Aug 05, 2009 3:51 pm shan Colour choices off the top of my head: roof, gutter, fascia:jasper We were going to pick Jasper but our builder took us for a ride around the area and pointed out the jasper roofs. Jasper seems to look like it was supposed to be another colour and faded. I had been feeling that jasper was too dark, so heres hoping it fades to a shade that is just right! Re: shans house- my own thread!! 19Aug 06, 2009 11:56 pm kirsada Hi Shanana!!!! Oops! What have I started?! shan fading jasper roofs, they are the colour of milo You're right! That's exactly what they look like - milo! But I'm not sure if they fade... I think they just look like that when you have that particular colour enmasse. Though I really do think it makes a difference what colour you pair it with. Some look really washed out. Others look darker. But when you actually look they are the same colour. My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months!
