Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 04, 2009 12:47 pm Ive tried everywhere to get some insulation, i thought 2 weeks would have been enough time to get a hold of some standard wall insulation but no, im getting 1 to 2 month delivery lead times on insulation. W****s! Sorry need to vent, how hard is it for shops to stock items that arent covered by a government rebate? edited by Onc-Artisan Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. Re: Be nice if someone would sell me some insulation... 2Aug 04, 2009 1:52 pm The way it was explained to us was that most insulation companies are decreasing the output of wall insulation to solely concentrate on ceiling insulation. We recently went to the local Bunnings and their storage area was stacked with piles and pile of ceiling insulation - which was all taken mind you with local orders - whilst they only had 12 packs of wall insulation in stock. All the local stores were in exactly the same position. We ended up buying all 12 bags which only did our ensuites / laundry / home theatre internal walls (builder supplied all external / ceiling as part of Basix but we wanted extra around the ensuites). Whilst it is annoying as a business owner myself I can see why they would be concentrating on an item that is going to be sold very quickly due to a stimulus package from the government. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Be nice if someone would sell me some insulation... 4Aug 04, 2009 3:24 pm Bill, I have just basicly done most of our home with the Bradford r1.5 wall insulation. Bunnings at Oxley had plenty of bags there. It's about $32 a bag and 90mm thick is perfect for walls. I was lucky enough to get it into the walls before plaster starts this week. Re: Be nice if someone would sell me some insulation... 8Aug 05, 2009 9:47 am What I did notice with our network cabling was the sparky has run it fairly high into the roof space guessing so that it keeps the data as far away from power as possible rather than running along the top of the wall studs. Have you got a good central location to terminate to? Basically the norm is to keep it about a stud away from power so ill be zip tieing and routing it at least 30cm away from the power, ill be going in after the power is roughed in so this should work fine. Ive got a licensed cabler friend coming over to check out my runs and then assist with terminating it all when it gets to that stage Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10.
