Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 31, 2009 9:16 pm Hi everyone, You may noticed on on my last thread we were considering building with impression. We finally chose to build with Scott Park Homes since we both fell in love with their vittoria range- "The Floreat" thou we did make some alterations. We just signed our final draft, fingers cross, hopefully my building contract will be ready before the $21000 FHOG expired. They did make us sign a disclaimer, that SPH wont be liable if their contract preparation cant be met on time. We done alot of research and thanks to everyone on this forum for all your valuable informations. We did suggest to our builder that we would like to use our own building inspector and make sure it was written on contract. another side question: which stages of the building process would I get my inspector out, and anyone can recommend a reliable inspector in Perth? Sorry for the long post but as everyone can see this is a very exciting and woes moment. We are still learning and want to be prepared. Thanks in advance. Re: WA Perth: The Floreat with Scott Park Homes 3Jul 31, 2009 10:25 pm annie.s Hi! Congrats on the builder decision Where will you be building? I think there are threads on the building inspectors. Try a search? Thanks Annie. Yea I did search, found some info but not 100% sure and I would like a recommendation on an inspector in Perth. From our research it seems that an inspection is required on framing then pre-plaster then at hand over. Have I missed out any other inspection stages? We are building in Lakelands, 5min from manduranh. We did some research on the suburb, the suburb is less than 2 km from beach. There will be a future plans for a train station, shopping centre within walking distant from my block and a link straight to the new freeway 2~5mins drive away. Our block are elevated with glimpse of the beach and our back neighbours with be a retirement resort. Land are cheap up there atm which falls within our budget and we definately feels the suburb will have great potential. Very excited Re: WA Perth: The Floreat with Scott Park Homes 4Jul 31, 2009 11:09 pm I don't have any experience with inspectors, so hopefully someone else will help you out. You sound like you've done your research and seem very happy! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: WA Perth: The Floreat with Scott Park Homes 5Aug 01, 2009 10:06 pm annie.s, I saw one of your thread regarding light bricks, just wondering what brick did you end up choosing? We got the Geographe Limestone dbl brick in our standard range which my partner and I really like. Because its a clay brick coated with limestone on the face of the brick to give it the limestone look, each time I run my hand across the face of the brick, my hand were filled with decent amount of limestone sand, it worrys me abit that if we choose this brick over time the limestone coat will come off. Re: WA Perth: The Floreat with Scott Park Homes 6Aug 02, 2009 6:41 pm Hi, L_L, I ended up choosing Whitecliffe (Midland Brick). It wasn't in the standard range, but it was the same price as all the standards, and it's fairly new, so I asked the builder and they added it to the standard range for me!!! I LOVE Whitecliffe!!! It's beautiful! It's like Florentine Limestone but without the marks through it. I was thinking of Geographe Limestone, but it was a bit too yellow for my colour scheme. I have no idea about whether the colour rubs off! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: WA Perth: The Floreat with Scott Park Homes 7Aug 03, 2009 12:49 am I have used housepect (http://www.houspect.com.au/construction.asp) once for a plate height inspection and will be getting them back for more inspections. They were recommended by a friend of mine who had a completed home inspected before purchase. *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Ask for references and speak to them.
