Hi
We are currently trying to finalise our house plans and have now added the weatherboard vs brick decision to the mix. We know that the style of the house that we are after, being more traditional in look and features, would lean towards a Weatherboad house - as we do not want something that is ultra-modern or contemporary. However, for some reason we can't make the decision.
These are a few things we are considering - pros and cons - we were hoping a few of you more experienced builders may have an opinion or knowledge of these things to assist us!
1. Weatherboard houses are more suited to the dry Victorian climate, as the house will more than likely 'move' with any shifting of the land.
2. I dislike facebrick houses (Husband doesn't mind!) - I'm not sure why but I just don't want a facebrick house
3. Weatherboards are more costly in the long run wrt maintenance
4. We've been told that Weatherboards have a higher energy efficient rating as they have better insulation - anybody else heard about this?
5. Brick houses have that 'strong and secure' look - which goes a long way to feeling more comfortable with your decision.
Thanks in advance!!
