We recently had our driveway done with a walkway at the front and that cost approx $7K. See the blog link below for some pics. I really like the look of coloured concrete with the 1m x 1m saw cuts in it. Have you seen this? If not you cn do a quick google image search for 'saw cut driveway' and some pics will show up... It's what we're having! Re: exposed aggregate vs. coloured concrete 5Jul 30, 2009 7:37 pm Salt&Pepper Exposed agg is harder to maintain.. needs regular sweeping and brooming. Wouldn't that depend on how dirty it is? I'm not sure I understand? We were told that coloured concrete needs resealing every few years. Or is that just the sealant salesmen's version? Grandma had one out front and the other out back and never did any maintenance. Only thing is the coloured concrete did fade a bit over the years, but it still looked good, as did the exposed aggregate. IMO another thing to consider is the house and whether one would suit it better than the other. Re: exposed aggregate vs. coloured concrete 6Jul 30, 2009 11:09 pm Thanks guys for the reply. kpny We recently had our driveway done with a walkway at the front and that cost approx $7K. See the blog link below for some pics. Your driveway looks great. I did a bit of googling and found that some coloured concrete are done by adding the colour directly to the concrete mixing, so the colour is dispersed deep into the concrete. Some are sprayed in the surface, which I think it is called sprayed concrete. Re: exposed aggregate vs. coloured concrete 7Aug 01, 2009 4:13 pm we have a mate whos doing our driveway for us and we didnt know which one to get either... he told us that exposed agg...yes its more expencive because its stronger and if it does crack its not as noticable as if it was concrete alone. cant remember why its stronger but apperently will last twice as long. now that could just be because of our queensland climate going from hot to wet all time...driveways up here are more prone to cracking. yeah and coloured concrete does fade with in a couple years too. i would have liked concrete myself but as he advised the above we are going agg Al & Caitie- Building the Hamilton 278 (Coral) at Narangba Re: exposed aggregate vs. coloured concrete 8Aug 03, 2009 8:31 am Spot on 3win... I reckon if you do go the coloured concrete option, the only way to do it is to have the colour mixed in, otherwise it does peel off after a while in the areas the car drives on. The overall colour will fade a little with the colour in the mix option, but it will still look 'dark grey' and won't fade to 'footpath grey' (as I call it) We are getting Impact Paving to do ours and the guy is cool- he showed us a little photo album he had in the car of work he's proud of. Good luck with your choice! Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 10404 After some ideas on making our patio kid friendly . Currently we have exposed aggregate.
