What does this mean? The soil testing holes? Is there fill on the entire block? Generally I would stay away from Waffle slabs. The isn't much difference in cost, but they can blow out, and don't perform as well as a raft slab (usually). Re: waffle pod or conventional slab? 5Jul 29, 2009 12:27 pm McKinnon I have fill up to 200mm in the boreholes, then silt from 200-700mm, then clay, 700-1800 and it will be a two story construction. Half my block is on a 100 year flood zone! If the fill is suitable and compacted well enough, then it shouldn't be a problem - they may just deepen your footings so that they sit 200mm into the natural material. If its not suitable it may have to be replaced, or rolled down. If you have the option, I'd go with a raft slab as they generally perform better than waffles. The Soil classification has little to do with piers.
