Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Carlisle Homes 2Jul 28, 2009 3:20 pm Having been part way through the building process with two other (major) builders I can safely say that Carlisle Homes range of standard inclusions is significantly larger than what I have experienced. Right now to the little things like a massive range of standard cabinet handles. Or black caesarstone being category 1 vs 2 for all other builders I have seen. Also I believe the Pagoda for example comes with a fully fitted out Walk-in-robe with double rails, shelves, drawers etc. Re: Carlisle Homes 3Jul 28, 2009 3:36 pm I am relieved to hear that Zerosignal! We to were part the way through the process with a major builder but we weren't that impressed with their standard range. We originally were looking at the Madison 30 only thing was that the pantry wasn't big enough so then we looked at the Pagoda and so far we have found their inclusions to be great. We will be taking up Carlisle's flooring promotion are you? Do you know what that range is like? Re: Carlisle Homes 4Jul 28, 2009 3:42 pm Bel & Ben I am relieved to hear that Zerosignal! We will be taking up Carlisle's flooring promotion are you? Do you know what that range is like? The range of carpet and tiles are great considering the price you paying for the promo and that the promo also includes 40mm Caesarstone. Standard tiles are the silver range at Baeumonts tiles, the carpet has a largest selection as well upto Category 2 which is 100% nylon. Cat 3 is a wool blend no idea on price as we want Nylon. Apparently you can upgrade the tiles to timber laminate for about $500 - $1,000. Re: Carlisle Homes 6Jul 28, 2009 8:26 pm Hi Bel & Ben, I am also building with Carlisle. Signed our contract a couple of weeks ago The inclusions are fantastic! Spa bath in the ensuite.. good range of handles and everything as mentioned by Zerosignal. There seemed to be a pretty large range of different carpets. We just went for a Category 1 carpet. Upgraded to timber laminate (was about $750 for our Monaco32... ). The tile range was fairly good. Our only upgrade was for feature tiles in the bathrooms, ensuite and powder room. Most of our extra costs were associated with moving walls, extending rooms, extending garage, upgrading heating (to 5 star rather than 3), etc. More than happy to answer any questions Where are you building?? We also did the rounds and got to almost contract with both NBG and M. We ended up with Carlisle mainly for the house design, but definitely found the inclusions to be really good. Aside from what has already been mentioned, the kitchens are also the best offer of many, in that the standard kitchen is very good and complete. With M they consider overhead cupboards and pot drawers as expensive extras - whereas these are standard with Carlisle. Plus the design is modern and a good design standard I think. By the way, we are loving the spa! Happy to answer any questions along the way. Also our blog and building thread might help you - see in my signature. Good luck! I can honestly say that Carlisles standard range is long and good quality. The promotions are pretty good too!! The only thing I note though is they dont offer anything for first home buyers.. eg M have their first home boosts in addition to Govt's etc.. As doghouse (Jo) said, their kitchen/bathroom designs and fixtures are very good... They have a large range of vanities/sinks. Most of the display home is basically what you get really. So even if you choose not to have many extras, you could build a standard Carlisle home and no doubt, it will have better fixtures than a standard PD or M house. For eg, Carlisle has overhead/base cupboards, steel trough in laundry, overheads and port drawers as Jo said, extensive colour range especially within their new Spectra centre, good range of standard front doors, nice no-charge facades (unlike some builders' tacky facades lol) etc.. Cant comment on flooring because most of our tiling and all our carpeting was done after handover. BTW the Pagoda is a really nice floorplan.. my cousin built the Mk1 version, but I quite like the Mk2. Why not ggo for the 35 sqaures?? What changes/extras are you making to the house? I better stop writing now lol!! Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! Zerosignal - That's great that black ceaserstone is included in Cat 1 even though we had pretty much decided on a white kitchen (may be vinyl wrap depending on price) with some feature colour cupboards! Sarahq - I can't believe that price to upgrade to timber it's just too good to pass up. Originally we wanted vinyl planks but then thought we would take up the promo to keep costs down but now i am thinking we might go timber and that way if we decide to put vinyl planks in down teh track it would be easier to rip up timber flooring than tiles. Our only problem is when we have looked at timber flooring was finding the right colour. A lot of our furniture is chocolate brown so don't know which colour would match Oh and we are buidling in the Vineyard Estate in Werribee near the river we were lucky pick up one of the last block 750sqm and they go up to 1800sqm unfortunately couldn't afford one of them oh well. Doghouse - Great to hear you are enjoying your new house i can't wait for us to start building we have just sold our house and moving into a rental this weekend not looking forward to it but hey i guess it is all part of the process! Oh and i can't wait for the spa. Salt&Pepper - 35sqs would be great but have to stick to a budget and plus there is only my fiance and i at the moment so it will be huge for us and kids will be in a couple years time and even then i think it will be big enough. Upgrades we will add - not much actually as the house includes most things we were wanting but we have added 3rd car garage with roller door at the rear, double doors to the rumpus, enclose the lounge and put double doors as this will be used as a home office, stacker door to the alfresco, 2.7m ceilings (covenant with our estate), downlights to living and enterence, door to WIR and that's it. I think we are now pretty much sold on Carlisle Homes after reading all your positive comments which is great. Re: Carlisle Homes 10Jul 29, 2009 9:23 pm Good to hear The flooring we are getting is only timber laminate (i THINK it is that stuff that locks together and has a very thin layer of wood with a coating on it??... sorry about the non technical description.. ) My kitchen has overhead cupboards with those perspex doors on them... you can choose some nice colours for them to make them a feature! I think you will find the standard inclusions are great value for money and the overall packages good too. Feel free to ask lots of questions .... us 'carlislers' are a growing bunch Cheers, Matt Re: Carlisle Homes 12Jul 29, 2009 10:30 pm Bel & Ben Thanks guys for your comments! Zerosignal - That's great that black ceaserstone is included in Cat 1 even though we had pretty much decided on a white kitchen (may be vinyl wrap depending on price) with some feature colour cupboards! Carlisle do Alifrost overhead cupboards as standard. We are going to ask for the entire overhead to be Alifrost with the thinnest frame they offer and a perlescent white. Underneath the benchtop we are going with white laminate cupboards. Re: Carlisle Homes 13Jul 29, 2009 10:48 pm Zerosignal I like your kitchen colour ideas already!!! Do you mean Alifrost cabinets all the way across the overheads? Like SuH's kitchen? It will look REALLY nice with the white laminex too!!! What kind of handles are you going for - go for ones like the Metro Lyndhurst display.. I quite like the look of straight lines going across... And youve got a galley kitchen too! It will look SPECTACULAR!! BTW have you solved your facade render colours issue? Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! Re: Carlisle Homes 15Jul 29, 2009 11:05 pm To be honest it will only get the same amount of grease as a normal laminate door... It will look better and no it wont be unclean.. think about it,laminate gets greasy too! Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! Being a hard plastic material I think a simple bit of windex will do the trick when they get to dirty. Salt&Pepper Do you mean Alifrost cabinets all the way across the overheads? Like SuH's kitchen? Just got this done tonight - it has taken way to long to get here as well... oh well at least changing the colours is easy now lol. Will post just these two here I might start a thread on the weekend with some other ideas as we come up with them. Plus I do not want to hijack this thread anymore Nougat bricks, Jasper Render to front protrusion, an Unknown red to peir and Self Destruct to remainder. We have gone for something pretty standard but you are definitely going for something more 'designer'... Wouldn't look out of place on a Carlisle display home!! Our kitchen is going to be white underbench cupboards, burnished wood overhead cupboards, pantry and island bench with pearlescent platinum overhead cupboards with the thin aluminium frame.. same as the display home!!
