Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Prestart 2Jul 27, 2009 10:59 pm Hi linney, Welcome. Do you mean a tender presentation? I think it is called different things depending on who you build with. Gee, ours went through the roof, and then the rest followed, electricals, appliances etc and it's till going... I guess if you were absolutely happy with the base product you would be able to not spend a cent. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Prestart 3Jul 27, 2009 10:59 pm no way!! hehe theres too many goodies to tempt you with Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! My building thread..viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19421 Brickies started 5/10 Re: Prestart 4Jul 27, 2009 11:53 pm You can go to pre-start and not spend a cent if: A) you have a high spec house ALREADY costing you upwards of 250-300k to build or B) you are happy to live a little angry when you can get the vaccum cord to reach everywhere in your house, your microwave, toaster and kettle have to take turns in the plug hole with the limited power points you have. You are under 5'5" and it is ok to not raise shower heads, tiles or glass. you don't like heating so you don't put in gas points. you don't mind having one light in places like your kitchen or your 5x6m family room. you don't want a broom cupboard to put your vaccum that doesn't reach around your whole house. etc I think it is possible to leave spending around 2k...and that is if you were 100% happy with the base house you were buying. If you haven't signed push for the salesperson to throw in some free things or free changes to help the pre-start bill stay under control. I spent 25ish - somehow? I'm not sure what I got for that to be honest? *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Re: Prestart 5Jul 28, 2009 12:40 am Hi Linney, i think it actually depends on your budget, how fussy you are and how handy you are. I have just had prestart and i spent $200. I added an extra power point, a deadlock to the front door and a double rebate door to add a security screen later to the front. My brother is a carpenter and my brother in law is an electrician and there are so many things I can do cheaper with them. There are so many things I can also do myself. I guess it also depends on your expectations, this is my first house so I dont expect the dream house. Having lived in old rental houses for years anything new is a luxury anyway! Hi Everyone, wondering if anyone has done a prestart lately with summit homes in WA and what kind of costs were associated with adding gpo's and downlights? we are also… 0 3262 |
