Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My Beechwood Mona Vale build - Kitchen cabinets are in! 21Aug 20, 2009 9:39 am Hi Northern Spirit, Glad to read that your building is progressing well with Beechwood. I am looking to build with Beechwood too and my wife and I have selected the 4 rooms Melrose Cove Manor design. We have decided to convert the dining to a study to make it a 5 rooms house now. We have yet to sign the contract with them but we have been given a "General Specification to Building" agreement for us to acknowledge and to sign when we sign the contract with them. I am just afraid to sign this as it states that the owner has to bear the cost if any damage is done to the council kerb or walkway? Did you sign this with them? or amend any of the clause in this agreement? Will be following your progress. Cheers. Hi pondsie - we actually did sign that clause, they asked us to sign it also - we had no problem signing it although i can see why you may be reluctant to, given they all need the work you could ask them to remove or alter it for you although in our case it was never an issue - all the major works are now done its just tradies on the inside now p.s: like the floor plan you chose, having the main bedroom at the back is a nice way to go too. as for our build, hardly any progress this week which is so frustrating, probably the first week where virtually nothings been done! just a bit of painting around the windows and door frames, no use posting updated pics just yet Re: My Beechwood Mona Vale build - Kitchen cabinets are in! 23Aug 20, 2009 4:06 pm your home is looking lovely! But have applied to a loan for the land! Hi bizzie mummy good to hear from you again, shame the quote hasnt arrived yet but surely its just about ready for you! i will surely be watching your thread with interest when yours gets underway should you choose to build with beechwood too. R.E: The kitchen: We kept the cupboards standard (colour is called "streetlight"). We had the handles upgraded to the nicer modern looking ones which i think from memory was about an extra $450, we also upgraded the kitchen benchtops to cesarstone (everest colour) as part of the package with includes the upgraded bricks amongst other things. The benchtops should be installed before the weekend im told, from there we will be told our completion date! You must be very excited that it will be completed soon. Beechwood has just submitted my plans to the council yesterday. I would consider myself lucky if they can lay the slab by November. Anyway, I would appreciate if you could let me know if: 1. Did Beechwood charge you extra for the glass on your door as it is not the standard clear glass? 2. How much extra were you quoted for upgrade to caesarstone benchtop for your kitchen? I did not ask for upgrade of benchtop. 3. How much were you quoted for the downlights each? I was thinking of using downlights for some of the rooms. 4. Did you get those heater/light/fan for the bathroom and if yes, how much did they quote you? Thanks. Thanks. hi pondsie yes we are very excited, the benchtops were meant to have been done on Thursday but they werent done so i hope it doesnt delay us by much, at this stage of the build we dont want delays we just want to move in! in regards to your questions: 1. the glass we chose was actually standard with the door, the door was part of a promotion which included dishwasher, garage remotes, upgraded hot water tank and termite treated frames so not sure how much it actually costs extra but believe me it is worth it, they do add a touch of class 2. the upgraded benchtops came as part of the upgrade package which i think was an extra $10,000 which also included an additional garage remote, upgraded bricks / tiles, windows to garage doors + lots of other things - again worth it imo, the laminated benchtops are nowhere near as classy 3. downlights were $62 each plus $35 per light point - we have a total of 52 downlights lol 4. yes we got those, we got a 4 heat lamp/fan/light combo to the bathroom and a 2 heat lamp/fan/light combo for the ensuite which came to $722 for both (i dont know the price of each one sorry) hope that helps you Re: Our Beechwood Mona Vale build - Painted and tiling started 35Sep 02, 2009 6:39 pm Well about time we updated our thread... Things have slowed down because the kitchen benchtops are now a week late and funnily enough everything revolves around them (we wont have a final date till they are in!), still no sign of them, we're not impressed! Anyway in the meantime the tiling is coming along, i feel sorry for the tiler who just wants the kitchen benchtops in so he can tile the splashback area - not Beechwoods fault, its the benchtop supplier, if it isnt in by the weekend **** will hit the fan! alfresco is tiled: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ family room tiling underway: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ensuite tiled, awaiting toilet: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ bathroom tiled: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ laundry tiled: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ close up of shower and feature tiles: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our Beechwood Mona Vale build - inspection sept 23rd 36Sep 24, 2009 3:37 pm Quote: 4: extras, well we had all sorts of extras ie: alfresco, ducted air con, downlights throughout, vogue 2000 facade, upgraded benchtops/bricks, tiling, carpets and site fees/basix/bushfire requirements - expect to increase it by 100k give or take... dont forget to allow for any retaining walls, driveways, fencing, landscaping, clothes line etc...
