In the standard HIA contract it states under "Interpretations" : "Commencement" means the day which the Building Works commence on the Building Site. PD cross this out and add a clause that says: "Commencement" means the day on which excavation works for the Building Works commence on the Building Site. So for me it is when the first turn soil. The standard HIA contract I guess is open to interpretation. Plumbing set out? Slab laid possibly? Check in your contract King Willy. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
