Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 26, 2009 9:32 pm Hi Guys, We thought that it was about time we started our own thread now that our house is starting. Its been a long process to get where we are now and we thought that it would never come! We kinda stumbled into getting a house and land package... At first we thought we wouldn't be able to do it as we had just got engaged on Christmas morning and thought it would be all too hard. Some how we entered our details into a website about house and land packages and then we started getting phone calls and thought that we might as well give it a go and see if we qualify.. and we did! So all this was happening in February 09 and then finally on the 13th of July settlement happened and last week our site works commenced. We have chosen the Entertainers Plus and building in hocking So after 5 VERY long months we are finally going to see our very own home getting built! We have decided to have laminate floor boards from the entry to the kitchen/living areas and then in all the other rooms we have a dark plum color carpet.... To the bathrooms we have charcoal tiles on the floor and then white tiles for the skirting. Both bathroom cupboards and bench tops are white and the kitchen we have white cupboards and chosen the Natural Quartz for the bench top. We tried to keep the colors neutral and simple. So that's the beginning of our story.. pictures are below cause we all know how much fun they are to look at Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building with Homebuyer's Centre - Entertainer Plus Site Works: 22nd July 2009 Slab: 3rd August 2009 Bricks Delivered: 17th August 2009 Walls Started: 28th August 2009 Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21261 www.YEEAAH.com.au Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 2Jul 26, 2009 9:59 pm Very nice I bet you are very excited Congrats on your engagement too Building with Homebuyers Centre El Questro! We are unsure of the carpet, the photo looks VERY purple and it didn't in the shop so we are not sure what to do.. Does anyone have any colour ideas that would go with our floorboards? We dont like the lighter colours we want something with depth in it... What an exciting year for you The floor plan looks fantastic - especially love the activity room between the two end bedrooms. That'll be a great space. Yeah, photos can be so misleading when you're trying to remember the actual colour. Any chance you can get back into the shop to check out the carpet again? Good luck with everything - look forward to seeing your progress! We're home!!! I like the plan too, kids down the back in teh activity room and mum and dad hiding in the theatre! I really like the carpet and I think it matches the floor boards nicely. (Having said that I really wanted to get purple carpet for my house but was out voted as it probably won't be fashionable in 10years) I ended up with a very neutral brown/grey and similar floor boards - but I thnk I like yours better they are really nice, not too light and not too dark. *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 7Jul 26, 2009 11:17 pm Congratulations. Looking forward to following your build. I actually really like the colour of your carpets - they look great against the boards, which are also a nice shade. ...however, I am a really big fan of anything purple so am biased. Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 8Jul 27, 2009 11:27 am Congrats on the progression of the build & engagement Love the colours, they look great.. well if it doesnt look too purple in real life then that good, i dont expect you or when people are visiting you they will walk around with a camera. We are doing the entertainer195. But we have knocked out the wall up the back there between bed 4 and activity room to make that area another bigger room. Your carpet looks lovely. I think it will be fine with the floorboards. Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 10Jul 27, 2009 4:32 pm thanks guys! i think we are going to stay put with the carpet we have already chosen. We talked about it last night and said we wouldnt have picked it if it looked gross and cameras can completely change the colour of it anyways! But it was all the positive feedback we got from here that made us feel ok about it again Just out of Curiosity does anyone know what we would be looking at to buy a garage door at all? We don't have one either . Bit of a sore point. Specifically said to sales guy we need to change that carport to a garage and had a big conversation about it. $4000+ later I notice we have no freakin door on it. We are now going to get that at the end. Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 12Jul 27, 2009 5:09 pm i know its a joke when you have to pay for it to be a garage and it cost SOO much and you dont even get a door out off it! We were told not to do the door through them as they charge to much and we could find it cheaper somewhere else.. Now its just the matter of getting a rough price so we know what we are up for.. More money going haha Building with Homebuyer's Centre - Entertainer Plus Site Works: 22nd July 2009 Slab: 3rd August 2009 Bricks Delivered: 17th August 2009 Walls Started: 28th August 2009 Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21261 www.YEEAAH.com.au Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 13Jul 27, 2009 5:12 pm That's a really nice plan for a first time builder Just one question though, do you have a broom cupboard? Something to consider as you will need a home for the vacuum, mop etc. I LOVE the plum coloured carpet and so long as it doesn't clash with any of your furniture then I reckon stick with it. I am considering having a lounge suite recovered in a dark purple fabric with some burgundy cushions. The block looks great too, what size is it? What a bonus that you have the established palms already growing behind you Looking forward to following your build and congrats on the engagement too Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. We have quiet a bit of room in our laundry which i can buy a small single cupboard for that find of stuff.. Or keep it in our garage, im not sure yet The block is 512sqm so good size block and still got quiet a bit of room for a backyard! very happy with the plan, will be great for quiet a few years to come Ash Building with Homebuyer's Centre - Entertainer Plus Site Works: 22nd July 2009 Slab: 3rd August 2009 Bricks Delivered: 17th August 2009 Walls Started: 28th August 2009 Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21261 www.YEEAAH.com.au Re: YEEAAH's house with HBC 15Aug 01, 2009 11:46 am Hi Guys, We went to our block yesterday and our footings have been done! I think the timber floorboards go with every colour, certainly your deep purple. If you love the colour, then stick with it. I think the key is to co-ordinate all your other colours to go with the purple, the floorboards will be the least of your problems! Where are you building? I see sand everywhere, I'm thinking QLD or coast and I'm droooliinnngggg. haha A thankful person is a happy person. Its a new part of an estate so there is vacant lots all around our side of the road.. mmmm now i have QLD on the mind now! We are off there in november!
