Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Rawd0n Hill builders ------ Anyone? 2Jul 21, 2009 6:15 pm We are, still only at early stages though. So far we've got to the second set of drawings (and likely the last, we've made all the changes we need). Just waiting on the Design Panel at Marriott to say yes to the setback (we had an issue with the first one not far enough back). We're happy with the decision, I don't think building with a volume builder is always a good thing, and when someone like Rawdon only build a certain number a year, there's a better chance (or methinks so) of getting better attention/service. They're very prolific in the south east (head office is in Hallam), have good relationships with suppliers as far as I know, and a good reputation. Plus, downlights are standard in their houses !!! There's more to come, watch this space. PS - Tell us about which house and where you're looking, out of interest. Re: Rawd0n Hill builders ------ Anyone? 3Jul 21, 2009 6:41 pm Hey, We too just recieved our 2nd drawings, however a few things are not correct! We were hoping it would be our last but sadly... back to the drawing board which is a bummer (hope it doesnt take 3 weeks like last time).... We are building the Hawthorn in Mooroolbark (eastern subs). Cant wait till we start! Hopefully not too far away although at this stage it seems like everything is taking forever! I agree about the feedback on Rawdon, they seem to have a good rep. I have just started a blog, ill have to work out how to attach, or ill check your out and see if i can add it! Will have to follow it! Keep us updated, this can be the official RH thread!!! If you try and send a Private Message to Shae on this forum, she is building what is similar to the Hawthorn with Rawdon Hill, she doesn't visit the forum too often though! They had similar issues with having to correct the drawings a few times, but since they have started.. they have really flown in building time! I think they started early May and they are expecting to start painting soon. Good luck with it all! Also got the final costings, not too much over budget- just need to do a few fine tuning (and perhaps do the retaining walls ourselves as they were a huge cost!) Getting exciting now that we are getting closer! Our sales rep thinks we should have the contract in the coming week! Lets hope so.... How is everyone else going? Re: Rawd0n Hill builders ------ Anyone? 8Jul 25, 2009 10:14 pm We went to AVJ Ceramics in Dandenong today (apparently along with another couple of RH buildees !!), all of us looking at tiles. We ended up doing the order sheet (conditional on final choices, plans being brought in for measurements and the final order !), and very happy. Will post up some piccies in the daylight - it's all very neutral, earthy colors and just looks right. So that's that out the way, the carpet is fine (Carpet Choice across the road are helpful) - we've been set on the color/type for ages, and RH's range there is actually on the upper end of quality, so it's reassuring. We're not far behind with contracts - land settles next month hopefully and we've got to do the colors, which we're pretty confident on, it'll just depend on $'s and adjusting accordingly. Re: Rawd0n Hill builders ------ Anyone? 9Jul 26, 2009 8:44 pm Good job on getting carpet and tiles done!!! We know what tiles we want (the same as display) but we dont want the carpet so we have to go and choose some carpet!!! They do have a good range dont they (we had a squisy a while back).... Good luck this week and keep us posted! Also put some pics on here so we can check out the colours! Re: Rawd0n Hill builders ------ Anyone? 10Jul 27, 2009 8:04 am The RH range at Carpet Choice is in the upper end of things....the salesperson suggested upgrading underlay - I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing to do (I'm guessing thicker makes it bouncier/softer). All the tiles and stuff are here, I've just gotta get off my bum and take some photos in natural light and a list, so you'll have an idea. Just to let you know we were very happy with Carpet Choice in Dandy and there service was great... We did the upgrade for the underlay... definitely do it.... You won't regret it... I think from memory we paid around $400... and the flooring is soooo comfprtable.... (it was 3.00 in the afternoon).. So we went to the tile place in Narre that is also on Rawdon Hill books..... and couldn't say or find a bad thing about their service and quality at all..... I think $400 is nothing for nice comfy carpet, and we have kids so will be good for them since they are always playing on the carpet!! I want to upgrade the carpet but i think it'll cost too much!!! We found that the builders range with them (carpet choice) was pretty good and we didn't need to upgrade but we never managed to get to the other place in Narree Warren though, so I don't what their range was if it was any better or not....
