Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 20, 2009 9:23 pm Hello all!
We're having a Colorbond roof in Monument. . . has anybody else had this? What colour facias and gutters do you have? We're thinking of having off-white facias, Monument gutters and painting the downpipes the same colour as the house (which, at the moment is a browny beige type colour.) We're having corbelled bricks around all of the front windows which we're painting white so they look like architraves. We're hoping that the facias will complement the fake-architraves. Does anybody have photos of their roof/gutter/facia board combinations? Ta! Jo Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 3Jul 20, 2009 9:34 pm Good choice Mundie! Isn't the Monument nice? I've just edited my post, of course we're not painting the gutters the same colour as the house, we're painting the DOWNPIPES! It's good to see the Monument with the lighter facias. . . Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 4Jul 20, 2009 9:53 pm I am a huge fan of monument and love having the odd colorbond moment Hopefully getting handover next week Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 5Jul 20, 2009 9:57 pm OH MY GAWWWWWWWWDDDDDDDD! We're just about to go to council (unless the builder's already submitted the plans - unlikely) YOU MUST BE SOOOOOO EXCITED . . . HOW CAN YOU SLEEP? I'm finding it hard to get through each day at work, I keep checking the council website to see if our DA's been lodged, I can't imagine how I'll cope with the actual build. Wow. . . congratulations. . . do you have a thread? I'm addicted to this site by the way. . . Phil has to tell me to go to bed each night, I've already learnt so much! And yes, can't wait for our colorbond moments. Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 6Jul 20, 2009 10:03 pm Yes we have quite an extensive thread (could be another late night for you if you start reading it). It is titled NBG Carrington 280 (on the first page at the moment ) Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 9Jul 20, 2009 10:14 pm It's bedtime, but somehow I find myself flicking through your pictures. . . doesn't your house look HUGE in the first shot of the frame (Is that you and the kids?) Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 10Jul 20, 2009 10:22 pm Tragically yes, I'm not a fan of pics of myself but DH is very camera happy at times The house is a great size for us although in hind sight we could have gone to 30sq of living instead of 28 but when we first committed to building interest rates were sky high. Very happy with the house though Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 11Jul 20, 2009 10:31 pm Well, they'll most certainly go up again, so we'd better make the most of them while we can. . . at least we don't have fixed rate! Aaargh! By the way, just showed Phil the photos of your entrance ceiling. . . I think he's in love. . . what's that called? Double coffer or something? Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 12Jul 20, 2009 10:35 pm Jodge, not sure of the correct terminology but we refer to it as a bulkhead. It is a real feature of the entrance and we love it especially now it is painted. Thanks for your kind comments Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 13Jul 20, 2009 10:40 pm Ahhhh . . . I just got to the picture of the painted "bulkheads". . . oooooohhhhhhhh . . I just love the contrast between the white and the colour on the walls. I think we're sold! We're planning on having a coffered ceiling in the theatre room (as long as it doesn't cost too much). . . we don't know yet whether we'll have cornices or not yet. . . maybe I should start a thread on that too? Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 14Jul 20, 2009 10:57 pm Hi Jo, Fancy finding you here.Yes it's past my bedtime too but this site is addictive!! You are addicted after all, I was getting worried there, didn't see any posts by you over the weekend, though you may have been run down by a bus or something. Yes, I will most certainly start a thread on the cornice on coffered ceilings. . . don't you think that mundie's entrance ceiling looks excellent without them though? I read somewhere that gyprock comes in a length that's just under the normal height of ceilings, so they use cornice at the top and skirting at the bottom to hide the gap. . . I suppose if you've got the coffered bits up there then you don't need the cornice. . . Then again, I'd better ask our builder what they normally do. Actually. . . it's Phil's choice of Monument. . . but I approve. . . I let him choose the roof colour and . . . oh. . . that's it. . . I got to choose the rest! Hurrah! Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 17Jul 21, 2009 8:08 am Hi fairyblue! I love the wooden bits in your gable thingies! Do they require lots of maintenance? I'd love to have wooden garage doors, but ours are going to be round the side, so it would be a bit of a waste of cash. Your Monument roof looks outstanding. I'm actually really liking your light grey facias. . . I was a bit worried about the off-white ones, as they look like they have a bit of yellow/creamy colour in them, and this may make them just look dirty. . . I think the shale grey may be the way to go!!! Hurrah! Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 18Jul 21, 2009 9:20 am Hi I have used monument roor with the same colour for gutter and paperbark for doors and windows. I have just had to set up my computer again as I have been having trouble with it and havnt downloaded all the pics so cant show you it here at the mo but just check out taffys thread Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Colorbond Roof - Monument - What Colour Gutters and Facias? 19Jul 21, 2009 11:18 am Quote: Aha! I think the shale grey may be the way to go!!! Hurrah! Not sure about the maintenance of the gables yet. They are merbau (sp) so supposed to be fairly hardy. Our current home is western red cedar so the maintenance for these little bits should be much easier. We are having monument for the garage door and our front doors will be timber stained and also the portico decked. This will tie the gables in with the rest of the facade. Have you checked out the home visualizer on the colorbond website? http://colorbond.autech.com.au/onlinevi ... esidential This is how we decided on the shale grey. The grey toned with our bricks better than the creams. Good luck. Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10207 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18563 Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides). From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 2877 |
