Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 19, 2009 7:44 pm Hi to all, Well all the wraps I gave Metr!con just came back and bit me in the bum... Today we arrived at the house to see that they had rendered the wrong part of the house... So can the render be removed easily or does it require re bricking?? Obviously I will not be paying for it... but I just felt gutted driving down the driveway seeing it... On another note the contract does not show render in the location where it was applied so would that be classed as a break of contract??? Thanks Re: HELP!!! Can render be removed easily??? 2Jul 19, 2009 7:58 pm Oh my goodness. Oh mjl, I am mortified at the number of these 'stuff ups' that I keep reading. What the hell is wrong with these people, why can't they read a plan??? For goodness sake. I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I know that it is not the constructive advice that need, but I just had to say i am so sorry that this has happened. Did it look ok where it was? or is it just a total disaster? PS-edit - sorry I just remembered that this has happened to someone else on H1. I will try to find the thread for you. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: HELP!!! Can render be removed easily??? 3Jul 19, 2009 8:28 pm Hey themax, It doesnt look terrible, but its not what we asked for. The only solution I can see is they knock the wall down and do it again unless you can remove render and leave a quality brick finish still. Re: HELP!!! Can render be removed easily??? 4Jul 19, 2009 9:00 pm mjl, here's the thread themax was referring to. The same thing happened to another forumer and this thread details the process and the outcome. May be of some help to you. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14610&hilit= I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: HELP!!! Can render be removed easily??? 6Jul 20, 2009 8:34 am Im no expert on rendering but i looked at the partially rendered house next to mine yesterday and the render is pretty much a thick concrete cover over the bricks, this render is a good 10mm out passed the brickwork so if its rendered in a similar fashion there's definitely no way of removing it Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. A good resolution I guess. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
