Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 18, 2009 11:53 am Hi Guys, I just want to know whether this large volume builders are flexible enough to give us the options to put the fitting and variations we want in our chosen house....has anyone had any bad experience after signing the contact...coz I'm planning to build a house with a major builder and all I heard was bad feedback after signing the contact with major builders...is it true that till we sign the contract they say they can do anything and everything and once signed they say they can't do this and that and everything?.... Volume/major builders obviously have suppliers they contract to therefore you can usually only choose something from within that suppliers range. Your question is quite broad. What is it that you are actually wanting to do ? From your heading I assume you are looking at building with PD ? If there's something paticular you want, ask if they do it and get a price. They can do almost anything.. but it always comes at a cost if it's not standard. You end up upgrading a lot if you want something a bit different. I agree with Rellie though.. your questions are very broad, what is it exactly that you'd like? We are building with PD and they have been able to offer us anything we wanted.. some of it came at a price we were unwilling to pay, others were find. I could pick any tile/bath/toilet/sink/kitchen cabinet/carpet I liked at their suppliers showroom.
