Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Roof Pics - just one :( 41Jul 28, 2009 4:28 am oh light switches, keep an eye on those. they like to build shelves over them. & when i say over i dont mean above, i mean lets play a game called where the hell is the switch - oh there it is, with a shelf running over/through it making it impossible to locate even in the day. yeah coz that makes heaps of sense! Also just because you think that switch is gonna turn on that light doesn't always mean it will, thats way too smart. It will turn on the light in the other room, meaning you have to do laps to find which switch operates which light. When your inspector does his final run through make sure you get your man to pay attention. Our inspector was really good he took hubby up into the roof and explained what needed to be fixed. Then when they tried to handover hubby went up had a look & said nope you havn't fixed anything in the roof yet! Seriously though, how devastating for you misscrow! Building a home is such a huge financial and emotional investment and requires that we put so much faith in our builders. It blows my mind that the builder can take that so lightly. How unbelievably *******!! Manda, I hope your experience is a much much better one!!! We're home!!! I don't think anything tops front of house falling off... right? I'm really sorry to hear all of those bad things misscrow. I am a bit terrified these things will happen to me - it is unbeleivable that they can do this to you or anyone. Our render started today (yay). Has anyone else used unitex render? I thought they put pigments in the concrete or something like that? My render looks very concrete-like. *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Render!! pics to come soon 44Jul 29, 2009 4:56 am thats probably the base coat. they put the colour straight in that stuff. We have 3 different buckets left over and we only have 2 colours. Hubby called them today & had a go about the kitchen so they are sending someone out to "have a look". they can look all they want, wont change the fact its not the right size! Im so over these idiots. Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Render!! pics to come soon 45Jul 29, 2009 5:05 am Quote: Oh dear, I know it's not really funny, but your sarcasm has given me the giggles! Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Render!! pics to come soon 47Jul 29, 2009 10:40 am misscrow Oh almost forgot, hows this for quality: hubby was in the shower this arvo when all of a sudden water comes flying out the walls where the taps are! Crazy! I would be screaming down the phone at someone if that happened to me. Manda, fingers crossed your experience with this builder will be a better one. New beginnings. P.S the guy next door has just finished building the same house as yours, (yup its a gemmill street) looks really good inside. Worst brick & colour choices ever, but what can you expect from a guy tho really?? Although he hates them too his issues were no where as bad as ours, so theres some positive news for ya! Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Render!! pics to come soon 50Aug 04, 2009 12:23 am *yay* I'm impressed he stuffed the colors up? They gave us an interior designer to pick colors with? Maybe he missed that appointment. Things nearly done. Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Render Pics!! 55Aug 06, 2009 11:58 pm I'm supposed to have unitex render... I think they are going cheap and doing concrete with acrylic overlay - I'm not a builder so I am probably just being paranoid. It is currently just concrete - it will hopefully look something roughly this: http://www.colorbondcolours.com/go/bsl-colour-centre-swatch/jasper The walls are going to be paperbark and crag grey (which I hope is brown like the sample) so it will have a warmer color palate. One thing I have learnt is that things just are not how you image them when building so here is hoping!!! *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Re: Building with Gemmill Homes - Render Pics!! 56Aug 07, 2009 1:07 am Manda Aha! you can say that Annie because your house will look lovely! Yes, you say that, but there is a house in Ellenbrook painted bright blue with gold zodiac signs painted on the front... and I'm sure the owner thinks it's tremendously stylish! Personally, I'm a little less sure of the wisdom of their colour palette! Nice roof! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months!
