Re: A Perfect House with Gemmill Homes - New House Update 16/12! 299Feb 07, 2010 8:49 pm Thanks Gurlistar!!! It is hard work but totally worth it! Jim, We have 2 6 meter pipes under our driveway. One for stormwater/soakwells and the other for retic. We organised with the site supervisor for the right time to go down and dig them in. We also put one under the footpath as both stormwater and retic were needed there as well. It was an effort but we did your own soakwells. We used the honeycomb shaped PVC ones from bunnings. They were easy to handle. We also bought socks to go over them and keep out the sand and blue metal for drainage at the bottom. A thought I had cleanign up our site for our gardens... if i took all of the building rubble and used it in the bottom of the soakwells then I wouldn't have had to pay for blue metal! If you want a pool check that they haven't poured your left over concrete and metal in your yard. We found heaps of it just short of a meter below the surface when putting the soak wells into our backyard. *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 Re: A Perfect House with Gemmill Homes - New House Update 16 300May 25, 2010 11:56 pm 6mth inspection time!!!! Last week we had our inspection. I am really happy with the house! We have a few shrinkage cornice cracks, loose door handles and a wayward kitched cupbaord edge that will be attended to but but much else to report. I asked about some dark spots in the white grout in the bathrooms and was offered to have a guy cut them all out and regrout. I'm undecided if my pedantic levels are really that high. The manager came out at 7am to see us so we wouldn't be late for work and nothing was too much trouble to be fixed. Someone is even coming to oil (or whatever they do) our door handles so that they are not stiff (as we just asked what was the best thing to put on them). As I have a new job they even offered to look after the house and lock up after the tradesmen. So nice!!! With the new addition of a kitten to the house I think we will need to stay home to watch her as she is way too cheeky! *Built with Gemmill Homes in WA* Slab - 1st June 2009 Plate Height - 17th June 2009 Lock Up - 18th August 2009 PCI - 5th October 2009 Hand Over - 15th Oct 2009 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20844 We used a smaller qld builder who went bankrupt about 12 months after completion of ours.
