Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 16, 2009 3:08 pm HI guys, My husband and I just started the procedure to build in Ellenbrook, WA. The new Malvern Springs Estate. Anyone else building there?? We have chosen land and a house plan, we've signed the first lot of contracts with Commodore Homes and have started our finance through our broker. Signed all the loan applications last night. I am looking for as much information as I can get, plus I need a place to complain and compare, already I am -incredibly- scared about the whole process, too scared to be excited yet. So first question first.... anyone else had any horrid experiences with Commodore Homes? Or any good ones? I'll post some pics once I've got them on my photobucket, for a look-see ... /Harmony Building Malvern Springs - Ellenbrook - WA Commodore Homes The Renegade (with variations) Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 2Jul 16, 2009 3:25 pm Hi Harmony, Havnt built with commodore but sooty has, theres the link to her thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19462&p=257518&hilit=sooty#p257518 Post your plans on here so we can all have a gander. Love the plans.. very open Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 7Jul 17, 2009 12:09 pm Thanks, we really wanted lots of space. We've got a quote from the builder to tile the living spaces (Crosby Tile), we've signed the proposed works agreement, but now we've been thinking polished concrete might be nicer... anybody had ant experience with this? Anyone done it afterwards? Also if we do tile, I'm wanting shiny white everything, but hubby says with 2 kids and 3 pets it will get dirty too quickly.. can you get shiny darker colours? Do they look any good? We're also after a painted glass splashback, but want to see if we can add that at pre-start? So many things to think about! /Harmony Building Malvern Springs - Ellenbrook - WA Commodore Homes The Renegade (with variations) Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 9Jul 17, 2009 1:24 pm what about polished porcelain tiles for either the splashback or flooring as an alternative if your looking for the gloss look? They seem to be pretty intense? Nicci - Do you think shiny tiles would be too slippery in the living spaces? Does the Kitchen count as a wet area? (as you can see... I -really- know nothing!! Hehe) I got a letter today from Commodore Homes explaining the process that is happening now, giving me contact details for the person handling it there and a voucher for me to give to friends/family so they can get $250 off a build with Commodore Homes... LOL... how silly is that!! Building Malvern Springs - Ellenbrook - WA Commodore Homes The Renegade (with variations) Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 12Jul 17, 2009 4:19 pm The covenants seem pretty intense but i don't think they are that bad really. Ultimate homes have buitl homes in the area before and so knew what needed to be done to meet the requirements. The only thing that is limiting i think is the choice of colouring. But because i was building my house to be pretty much exactly as the display the colour thing wasn't an issue Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 13Jul 17, 2009 4:26 pm In living areas should be ok.. heres a link for all about flooring. viewforum.php?f=7 well dont worry you learn alot from ths forum and so many helpfuly people willing to give advice. Homebuyers their referral voucher is for $1,000.. if only, it would help out. Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 14Jul 19, 2009 11:35 pm Went out to Malvern Springs this afternoon, our block now has paving ( on the street out front) and curbing... don't know what this means, but yay all the same... We are still in two minds about what colour bricks to choose, I am very against anything yellow, and we were thinking cream, so now we need a cream that isn't too pale... lol... We have decided that we are going to have black (or dark) window frames and a stone (not sure how else to descibe this) feature on half of the bedroom wall... Have paperwork to sign from the bank this week, so hopefully will do that on Tuesday, and then it's waiting for final plans to be drawn up, which I'm told could be a 6-8 weeks... fun! /Harmony Building Malvern Springs - Ellenbrook - WA Commodore Homes The Renegade (with variations) Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 15Jul 24, 2009 5:21 pm exciting news about the paving and curbs outside ya house.. We chose the cervantes from austral its creamy and not to pale.. i love it. the waiting game seems to be the entire time of building Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 16Jul 27, 2009 10:31 pm This week our block of land now has a lamp post We've had our conditional approval from the bank, and my broker said to send the details for this to my builder, but not quite sure who at the building company to send it to?? We've changed our minds (which I am sure will happen alot) and decided on red bricks.... I am currently trying to talk hubby into a red glass splash back and an all-white kitchen... he's not convinced Building Malvern Springs - Ellenbrook - WA Commodore Homes The Renegade (with variations) Re: Commodore Homes - Malvern Springs WA - Step 1 17Oct 05, 2010 1:01 pm Your husband is right with the colors. Kids have tendency ti turn everything white into something else You have big open area so the dark tiles would look great. There is Shiny blackish ceramics in Magic Tiles and quite cheap - I got the white version for mine as we do not have much space and didn't want to make it look even smaller. contract 10/11 prestart 04/10 slab 06/10 bricks 07/10 roof 09/10 plaster 10/10 Ceiling 10/10 LOCKUP 10/10 tiling wet areas 11/10 garage floor 11/10 PCI 12.01.11 handover 11.02.11 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39361&hilit=malvern+springs We are in !!! So far the experience with Commodore has been fairly good, sales rep is great, pre start consultant was good, didn't push us into anything and gave us great advice, and now we have been put with another lady (cant remember the term for this ladies position, help??) basically she will be there to answer our questions throughout the construction phase. She seems OK so far, not overly impressed with the two unanswered phone calls so far but that seems the norm if I go off what everyone else has said! I have a topic happening, so feel free to have a look if you are interested! What street are you, if you don't mind me asking? Is this crack showing some signs of bigger problems? Thanks for any suggestions! 1 1914 Take a pick with a level sittingo n the slab and a pick with a level sitting on the sill please. This will help us diagnose the issue and therefore a solution. RE,… 8 9393 |
