Re: Arndell Estate 302Aug 23, 2011 7:31 pm Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum. I bought the land and home package in Arndell Estate. My house is on Tallgrass Avenue. It's very unfortunate but I want to start with the bad news. I got the handover of my house couple of weeks back and with the lot of excitement I got my kindsize bed delivered two weeks. Before i move in my bed is STOLEN. Just want to convey to all the guys here to be more vigilant and really implement the NEIGHBOUR WATCH so that we can keep the bloody thugs away from the Arndell Estate. Cheers. Re: Arndell Estate 303Aug 23, 2011 8:15 pm oh no! not really a good way to start in your new neighbourhood we really can't afford to be complacent, regardless of where you buy your property. theft is fairly common for newly built houses that hasn't been occupied yet, but appliances/furnitures are already brought in. it doesn't matter if the furnitures are stand-alone like a bed, or installed like oven and stovetops. as long as they know no one is living there yet, they can strike anytime, any suburb, any estate. this is the reason builders deliver appliances only after handover. thanks aks4058 for sharing your experience. hopefully this makes us more vigilant in watching our surroundings, and also prevent this from happening to others who haven't moved in yet. Re: Arndell Estate 304Aug 24, 2011 10:38 am Hey guys, Just spent the first 6 days there and it is a good location to be at - getting to work and not driving that far- its just that intersection on old geelong and forsyth that is a killer!!!!! Even turning into the side lane is tough as traffic is banked up all the way back! Hope things gets better when something gets done with that intersection. I just moved in. My neighbour has a big dog who barks everytime we go out in backyard. Sometime it shake the fence so hard that it might pull it down. Neighbour doesnt look friendly. What can i do? What are the dog laws here? Anyone have/had this problem here? Re: Arndell Estate 306Sep 08, 2011 3:42 am looks can be deceiving try and use your charm first before concluding i suggest you introduce yourself to them, have a quick chit chat, then explain your situation. ask if you can be introduced to their dog so that he/she becomes familiar with you guys and doesn't get agitated whenever you're in the backyard. i imagine the dog scratches the fence, so tell that you also don't want them so see rust on their side of the fence. just my 2 cents. good luck and welcome to the neighbourhood! Re: Arndell Estate 307Sep 08, 2011 9:27 am Hi Checkmate, Welcome to Arndell! Having 2 dogs myself, I know that sometimes it can be hard to keep them under wraps, but still, a friendly chat would not hurt- even say that you might be afraid of them ( if you are) and they might be more compassionate to you. Another option is to offer to throw a bone over ( with permission) so it looks like you are trying to help keep the peace. Good luck! Re: Arndell Estate 308Sep 08, 2011 11:10 am Arndell residents living across from Rooke Reserve or the new lineal park, be aware that the park maintenance crew have been caught red-handed on a few occasions helping themselves to water from front garden taps. Sometimes they connect an entire hose, sometimes it's just a bucket of water, and most recently, one of them helped herself to a saucepan of water to cook lunch at the back of her truck! When confronted, they are not contrite, use abusive language and think it's their right to get water from anywhere they please! Re: Arndell Estate 309Sep 08, 2011 11:47 am Cream and libran_6, Thanks for your reply. First of all, I must admit that I am not a great dog lover. However its not the barking that I am concerned about. I can put up with that. But The dog is very aggressive. It tries to jump over the fence. If it does manage to break the fence or sneak through somehow it’s a major safety issue for the baby and others. Re: Arndell Estate 310Sep 12, 2011 12:00 pm Hi Check_Mate I can understand the issue. My situation vis-a-vis K9s is the same. I am mot a dog lover at all and to the extent that I try avoiding streets where there are dogs. So is that ok for you to tell me what street are you on so that I tread carefully on that street. Thanks! Samir Re: Arndell Estate 312Sep 14, 2011 11:01 am Thats the thing I have noticed that people roam around with their pets predominantly dogs unleashed as if making a power statement. I mean dogs are always to be kept on leash unless at one's own home. Tough days ahead I guess for me. Regards Samir Re: Arndell Estate 313Sep 14, 2011 11:15 am Hi Guys an announcement: We will be going for our first inspection on Friday 16th Sep 2011. Hope it goes well and looking to move in early october. Thanks and Regards Samir Re: Arndell Estate 314Sep 28, 2011 1:13 pm cream Hi Analyst, We used New Home Inspections too - and with 71 defects picked up, i think they are quite thorough. I would recommend them! Hi Cream, Hope you are well. I signed up with NHI, they did the inspection and found 35 defects and 2 of them are major defects. Thanks for your suggestion to use NHI last time. Now builder would have to fix everything and at this stage I could say I would probably move there 4 weeks from now. im on stage 6 and building with ahb. Re: Arndell Estate 315Sep 28, 2011 1:17 pm Hi Guys, hope you guys are well. If any of you guys know someone who can build shed, pergola and of course with good quality & reasonable price.. please post here ^_^ also outdoor stone tiles.. sorry if im asking too much.. any information will be appreciated.. Re: Arndell Estate 318Oct 06, 2011 3:48 pm That's scary CheckMate. I thought the thief is only targeting empty houses. May I know which street you're? I am looking to do fencing & landscaping for my house there. Can anyone recommend a good with reasonable price? Re: Arndell Estate 320Oct 19, 2011 9:59 pm have heard a few dogs barking lately. Seems like the dogs are "fighting" or rather aggressive! one of my neighbors have a dog too. I don't mind as long as it doesn't go into my backyard. The fence have gaps at the bottom. Sigh....Hopefully they'll put something to cover it |
