Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 12, 2009 12:27 am I just thought i'd ask everyone what sort of service they have received from their builders and tradesmen during or after their 3, 6 or 12 month inspection??? We have had our inspection last month, which wasn't too bad....but have been having issues ever since!!! It seems that these tradespeople only work business hours not weekends. So we have to keep taking time off work to make the house available for them! Our ducted heating was leaking yet again into our ceiling and when we had the inspection they said they'll get Dandy Air back out to check it urgently. But their guy came out and said the plumbing up in the roof was "illegal"????!!!!???? Supposedy the overflow pipes were plumbed incorrectly. The heater/air con were plumbed into one pipe??? So not sure whats going on there? The second plumber said that it was fine??? So not sure what to believe??? This took 2 weeks to do, 2 fridays appts required there!!!! Then we had to get plumbers in to replace the push drains in the 3 vanity basins. A plumber turned up, did one, and left???? He was supposed to turn up at a certain time, didn't call, turned up and my son let him in knowing he was coming to do the work. But he didn't finish all 3, just did one and then left????? That was one friday appt. Then another plumber is yet to come out and look at the issues we have with water pressure with some taps/hws. They are coming next friday. Still waiting for cosmetic touch ups to be done!!! Its been a month of appt's and i had a word to the Henley handover rep on Friday! Its not on to have to take this much time off work to accomodate these tradespeople. We're now putting our foot down and saying its a saturday appt or else! Has anyone else had issues with their repair work???? I'd love to know how others have gone??? Re: Maintenance Inspections - Did you get good after care svc?? 3Jul 12, 2009 5:04 pm Hi Nicola Ours was a six month mainteneance check ot done till 8 months and at nearly 13 months we are still waiting on a couple of things. What is even more annoying is that the maintenance team seems to think they work for a different company and keep blaming and denying items and refering back to construction. We finally had some joy (one day short of 12 months since handover) with our air con. Only after dealing directly with Daikins legal counsel Our outdoor unit has been replaced and a fairi chunk of the ducting and vents were replaced. Up until a week before this Big M were still trying to tell us that everything met Aust Standards. Never Again! We tend to focus on what the 'build' experience is like, but don't give much thought to how you're treated later. It will be interesting to see what builders stand by their customers after the final cheque has been banked. Re: Maintenance Inspections - Did you get good after care svc?? 6Jul 12, 2009 8:05 pm Our service has been absolutely fantastic from the builder's Customer Service lady but not so good from the tradies that have been organised to visit. DW works about 21 hrs per week and always has one day off during the week, so naturally that is the preferred day that we want them to visit. Either that or they have to be out of the house by mid morning, or call in after 4. It doesn't always fit, so we share your frustration Nic. Geoff - Decophile. Re: Maintenance Inspections - Did you get good after care svc?? 7Jul 13, 2009 10:34 pm DH received a call today from another of the builder tradesmen. This one needs min 2 days access to the house to fix paint, small cracking etc. (during the week of course! ) He doesn't even care if anyones there or not I've said NO! Sick of it already, we've had to take enough leave already in the past 4 weeks...enough is enough! Might have to make a few phone calls to certain people at Henley to fix this little situation..... It's just ridiculous to be expected to take so much time off for them! You have mandatory building inspections and privately engaged building inspections. The difference between the two comes down to inspecting the building so it's safe and… 3 33728 Deep Saini, Did you enter into a build contract with the builder? or Did you buy the home completed? 2 6695 Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 17909 |
