Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 12, 2009 12:23 am How many people have had this problem? The first time we built, we had an extra pipe and no one knew what it was for. This time we have a pipe which has ended up under the frame??? Show and tell please. http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/101/pipejaa.jpg T. Re: PIPES IN THE WRONG PLACE IN SLAB 3Jul 12, 2009 9:36 am could be an electrical conduit... which means just a few cables come out of it.... we had a pipe in our WIR and were curious about why it was no where near where water was meant to be but in the end it is an electrical conduit which they cut off at the slab and ran a few wies through... but i would assume they didn't mean for it to be under the frame! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! It's really no biggy and they can be fixed relatively easily (well, mine were!) First one was the pipe from the upstairs bathroom coming down through the walls. It was sitting in the hallway by about 4mm. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They cut it out and dug away part of the slab and put in an elbow join so it wasn't sticking out in the hallway! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The second one was the laundry trough waste was partway through the frame: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As it wasn't a load bearing wall, they chopped a bit out of the bottom of the frame. The third was our powder room toilet was slightly out of wack! The moved it to the correct position... There was a big 'shelf' in the pipe and I was worried things would get stuck on it and cause blockages in the future. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The final fix is fine and all should drain away nicely. If not, then they will be out to fix it! SS assures me it's fine! My parents had the same thing, and their place is now 4 years old, and absolutely no problem to date so far. There is only a toilet and vanity in the powder room, and the floor will be tiled, so hopefully, the fixed slab section won't cause too many problems either, but most of it will be covered with leveliing compound before the tiling can begin anyway... A plumber might be able to advise more, though! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Our outlet pipe is for the wash basin in the downstairs powder room and the photo shows it appearing in the laundry, it looks like they are going to have to move it right out of the way of the frame. Did you have to complain about it or did they fix it automatically? Thanks again T. Part of the frame is cut away around where the pipe enters the slab. Could this be a reason for the pipes appearing in the wrong place? Re: PIPES IN THE WRONG PLACE IN SLAB 11Jul 12, 2009 6:33 pm Ooops We were lucky as ours we spot on. In fact I am impressed with the positioning of the toilets as I was sure on of them would be too far out from the wall Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. What is it plumbers can't read house plans? I didn't realise that after the concrete was poured they could just lift it and try again, I thought it was pretty much set in stone (concrete) . Did you bring it to the attention of the supervisor? T. Re: PIPES IN THE WRONG PLACE IN SLAB 14Jul 13, 2009 6:27 am torourke1 What is it plumbers can't read house plans?
