The front shot of a house looks like something they could put in one of their books Re: 'Retreat'-ing to our Pl@ntation- HANDOVER 25th March!!!! 84Mar 27, 2010 11:33 am Congrats on handover! Your house looks beautiful! I do love your kitchen splashback, great choice. I was going to use that tile in the darker shade as a feature wall in my powder room but took it out, after seeing your splashback having second thoughts!! Also, I agree the laundry bench turned out a very lovely color combo. Very fun seeing seeing some of PH fittings come together as we have chosen the same cupboard handles and other details but haven't started building yet. I really like all your colour schemes and tiling choices. Your facade is stunning. Congratulations on a beautiful home. It's nice when other people have positive things to say, makes you a little more comfortable with all the decisions you have made. So, handover was the 25th March and then it was a mad rush to get the floor coverings down so we could move in over Easter. Timber floors were booked for the Mon/Tues then carpets Wed/Thurs. I trek out to the house at 7.00am on Monday to let the floor guys in but they were running late. When they finally got there I was in a rush to get to work so I let them in and left. Anyway, I get back to the house at 3.30 after they have spent the day putting the timber down in all areas except the kitchen. I walk into the house and discover they have put down the WRONG COLOUR TIMBER!!!!!!!!!! Instead of laying Spotted Gum the wood they had put down was Blackbutt. Very nice but much too light for what we wanted. Needless to say they were a little unhappy with the store for giving them the wrong stuff. I still don't know who's fault it was but basically the factory had delivered it to the store and they layers had picked it up from there (all 120sq m of it) and put it down. No one had checked it was the right stuff. Mad rush of phone call to try and sort it out. So Tues they came back at 7.00 and ripped it all up and put down the right one. They worked till 7pm to get it done. Now we have 100 odd m square of blackbut to lay on our shed floor. So here are some pics. Will get more when everything is unpacked and the new furniture arrives. Your front portico is stunning too. Congratulations and wishing you lots of good times for many years to come in your new home. Re: 'Retreat'-ing to our Pl@ntation- All moved in. 90Apr 08, 2010 12:52 am Glad you stood your ground with the timber floor boards. They look spectacular. And what a bonus to be able to keep all the stuff they ripped up, you may be able to pass it on to someone else building near by for a cheap price if there's not too much damage to it as they ripped it up. Beautiful job, your colours just work so well together! We are very happy with the floors. mummamichelle, we had a great building experience with only minor hiccups as you should expect. SS was great but admin CS chick was useless. Was glad to give them a report on her when they rang for our post build customer satisfaction survey. As long as you are there regularly to keep an eye on things so you can pick up any issues, hopefully you will have a good experience like us. Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. Still have lots of decorative things to do but I am finding it hard to get things in the colours I want. These pics are taken at night so I will try to get some daytime shots up soon.
