Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Charlie's Place | Handover TODAY - or maybe not??? | 301Jan 29, 2010 4:54 pm A real bummer about your SS, the poor thing, makes my hands hurts as I type just thinking about it...At least you know your house won't be going anywhere, so whenever handover is, your beautiful new home will be waiting. This must have been one of the top 'most bizarre' handovers (or attempts at it). Hope they can re-attach his finger that you ... errr ... retrieved from garbage BTW, looove your Dulux 'Beige Royal Half' walls ... My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Charlie's Place | Handover TODAY - or maybe not??? | 304Jan 29, 2010 8:34 pm YIKES I would've passed out...just thinking about it is making me all squirmish! Poor man! What a raving looney day it's been for you but glad that the bank and concreter didn't throw a spanner into the scheme of things. I guess this buys you more time to finalise packing and doing the bits and bobs related to removals etc. OK, we shall wait patiently for your pics Building thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22917 27.07.09 Contract signed. 08.09.09 Site scraped. 18.09.09 Slab completed! 23.11.09 Bricking done 09.03.10 - Tiling 15.04.10 PCI 01.05.10 Handover Re: Charlie's Place | Handover THIS FRIDAY (or thereabouts)!!! | 305Jan 29, 2010 9:00 pm charlie That Christmas period is a killer no matter when you hit it! I haven't had a chance to look - did you get your site start yet??? Fingers crossed for you! I got news today that my site file has been completed and it was also being handed over to construction today. Unfortunately, my new construction contact wasn't working today so she will apparently be in contact next week to organise a meet and greet with her and my site manager. I haven't bothered updating my thread until I have some actual physical progress! With all you guys getting close to finishing, where are the people about to start like me that I can compare notes and progress with!!!!! Re: Charlie's Place | HANDED OVER!!! | 306Jan 29, 2010 11:31 pm Well, I'm still in disbelief, but despite everything - handover happened!!! We're in! We have keys! Woohoooo! Got a message from our Site Manager this arvo to say that he was on his way to the city for micro-surgery which is good because it means there might be a chance they can reattach his thumb. I was trying to stay positive about the possibility at the time, but I honestly didn't think they'd be able to. He'd done a proper job of it. Fingers crossed for him!!! A colleague was able to meet us later in the day to go through handover. We left the house with our new keys in hand at about 5pm, messaged people to say that the birthday party was going to be at the new house, went home to madly get everything we needed, and got back to the house a bit before 6pm. Not the most organised party (!) but it was kind of fun! A 'bring-your-own-chair' event. Within an hour the place was absolutely trashed with dirty dishes and toys and people everywhere and it was kinda surreal - even without any furniture it felt like we'd lived there for ages. Our little girl gleefully took her first real steps in front of a very enthusiastic audience of family and friends (little show-off!). So the house has been well and truly 'christened'. Anyway, I'm off to bed - soooo exhausted! But just had to share. Oh, and by the way, I like the house - it's looking really nice now that everything has been finished. We're home!!! How wonderful that you were able to have a combined very special birthday and housewarming! I do hope your site manager will be fine, and good on your builder for getting things finalised for you despite what happened! Re: Charlie's Place | HANDED OVER!!! | 319Jan 31, 2010 10:22 am charlie Fingers crossed for him!!! Yes, I don't think he would want to think about crossing his fingers, just a little painful. Hopefully they can reattach it. My uncle (who is also a builder) cut his thumb off years ago and they were able to reattach it. Just means some directions he hasn't got full movement. Ooooohhhh, first steps in the new Home. That is truly wonderful and what a special memory you will have forever. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
