Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 10, 2009 9:25 am I'm just wondering if anyone has actually used Dulux Fiji Sands as a render colour. We chose the colour thinking it would be a creamy colour, to go with dark bricks. We were basing this on the sample at H'toun. Now, browsing the Dulux website, it appears to be almost a light pink. I don't know why we didn't see this earlier. Maybe when it's actually painted on it would look different? Unfortunately, we've already signed the contract, so we don't know if we can change it or not. Does anyone have any pics of the colour actually used on a house? Re: Dulux Fiji Sands Render Colour. Has anyone used this? 2Jul 10, 2009 12:19 pm Um - we didn't end up using it, but we got a sample pot of it. I don't remember it looking pink......if I remeber correctly - it had more of a green tinge than a pink one. Re: Dulux Fiji Sands Render Colour. Has anyone used this? 3Jul 10, 2009 12:36 pm Websites and photos make things look completely different. Go and buy a sample pot of the colour for a few dollars at Bunnings and then paint it onto a big bit of cardboard. Then you will be able to get a better idea of whether you like it or not. It might not be worth changing it, depending on how much the builder will charge you for a variation. Maybe paint over it yourself at a later date if you decide you really dislike it. But it also depends on how big the area is. I am doing this for my house. I want the planterbox and the feature wall 2 different colours but it was going to cost me heaps more, so I got everything done the lighter colour and will repaint the darker colour over it after handover. I went to the local paint shop yesterday and they made up a pot of the colour for me. When I had a look inside, it had the creamy colour that we'd hoped we'd see. I painted some onto a plain sheet of paper just to get an idea of the colour. A smudge of it did look somewhat like a makeup smear; a kind of pinky colour. It's dried out today and has more of a yellowish appearance. I can see how it's meant to have that green tinge. Actually, it's different under different lights. Just can't understand how the colour on the website is so wrong. We won't change the colour; it should work out ok. Re: Dulux Fiji Sands Render Colour. Has anyone used this? 5Jul 11, 2009 8:45 pm Haven25, I think it's just the way your monitor displays the colour with the colour pixels it has to use. I had the same problem. I ended up getting many sample pots until I was satisfied (and still not sure I chose the right colour but it's too late now). I am sure it will be ok. edit - PS- Anything called Fiji Sands has to be nice! www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Dulux Fiji Sands Render Colour. At least it's a reasonably neutral colour. Fiji Sands does have a nice ring about it, doesn't it? Conjures up an image of relaxing on a beach...... Re: Dulux Fiji Sands Render Colour. Has anyone used this? 7Jun 04, 2012 11:19 pm Haven, do you have a final photo of how it looks? I have selected it for my render colour and am now intrigued to see how it looks Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
