Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - kitchen/tile selections 121Oct 06, 2009 9:21 pm I don't know if this helps or not with your cabinets selections, but if you have a look at our pics we also used a lot of grey, the same charcoal floor tiles and white walls for both bathrooms, but chose different cabinet colours - timber in one, grey in the other. The timber really warms things up, whereas the different greys in the ensuite are quite masculine. The completed tiles are on page 2 down the bottom viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23185&start=20 . The only thing I don't like is the white grout in the floor tiles - I should of gone for grey, when I walk in there my eye goes straight to lines in the floor instead of to the feature tiles. Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - kitchen/tile selections 122Oct 08, 2009 8:22 am Thats right camyperth, I remember now - sorry! Thanks Shell83 it is good to have a look at pictures of similar colours. I'm hoping we can choose our ensuite tiles from a different shop as the tile we have picked out there is a very light grey so will make our ensuite a bit brighter. I emailed the prestart lady about it yesterday so fingers crossed she says yes. I see what you mean about the different colour adding a bit of warmth. I'm thinking we will choose light vanity colours, and hoping with the purity essa stone that that will lighten it up a bit aswell and I might try and add warmth with warm coloured towels/accessories. Thanks again! Also prestart lady said we can choose our tiles from 2 different tile places yay bad news: I called Alinta gas today to set up new account etc and they told me there is no gas main connected to our land.... SAAAAY WHAT??!?! She then told me my options are either to pay thousands to have it connected, or live off using gas bottles. No thank you - I am building a new house in a residential suburb and I am not in the dark ages. Apparently the street behind me is connected, but the established older house next to me is on gas bottles. I then emailed the real estate agent who we bought the land off and I got a reply saying they were also only told this about a week ago by the developers. Apparently the developers said it is a stuff up by Alinta gas and that they are working with them to get gas connected over the next several months. Ok - I'm fine with this, as long as it is connected at no cost to us. I'm going to call the developers myself on Monday and have a chat. My question is - is this going to interfere with our build at all? Our slab would be due to go down around January and I have a feeling this gas thing won't be done by then. Does the gas main have to be done bfore our slab goes down?? No gas?! 9/10 124Oct 09, 2009 9:19 pm I don't know if it will affect your slab going down, but it will affect your appliances. We are in a new estate down south and there is no mains gas in this town. It's a bugger building a nice new home and having to attach it to bottles. Re: Our home with Ventura (WA) - WHHHHAATT? No gas?! 9/10 125Oct 09, 2009 9:23 pm I'm assuming the gas main will be done a few months after the house starts, so would we just be able to build as normal and they connect it up as soon as they can? No gas?! 9/10 126Oct 09, 2009 9:25 pm That great about your pre start and tile shop NOT great about your gas devolpers should not be allowed to sell land without the gas supplie there., I must admit that was one thing we where worried about because we could see our electricy and water on the block but no gas so we asked at the salesoffice. He giggled and said yes so it better be there somewhere. Let us know how you go on monday with both things. GOOD LUCK My building thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25279 NEARLY DONE.
