Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 07, 2009 7:21 pm Hi All I have been a regular follower for the last couple of months. Our finance is sorted, contract is signed and we have received design approval from our estate. We are waiting for a build over easement application to be approved before the building permit can be obtained. The builder put this application through back in June! Was just wondering if anyone else has had to do this and how long you had to wait! We can't get our building permit without this approval and we have a planned July site start. Am getting very anxious as if the site start goes past July I am sure the builder will charge us! The builder submitted the paperwork to the council in late May and I am still waiting for townplanning to be finalised. I have been following up every week and there is always an excuse. I have decided to call the council today and found out that the builder did not submit the correct paperwork so this will take even more time to get the new plans approved by the water authority. Apparently, my area used to be flood-prone and I found this out just after settlement. I am so frustrated by this whole process. I was supposed to have an April site start and I don't see it happening until September. Re: Building Permit 4Jul 14, 2009 6:37 pm After not hearing anything for a couple of weeks I called Porter Davis and they told me the permit was being held up by the developer. As there is an easement at the back of our property, they had to apply for a build over easement application with S E Water. We are not building over the easement but near enough that we need it. Anyway apparently S E Water put the application on hold as they developer had to shorten pipes or something and this has been going on since the beginning of June. I took matters into my own hands today and spoke to the developer myself and the necessary work is happening on Thursday and they advised me that once the amendment is made the build over easement application isn't needed so first thing tomorrow ill be on the phone to porter davis. I am assuming it will be another couple of weeks before the permit is issued so I am guessing my July site start is not happening Building Sandhurst 36 Porter Davis Currently Fixing No, not yet.
