Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 06, 2009 10:12 pm Hi Forum - first time user looking for some advice. Do we take the Eden Brae builder package which includes some site costs, roof sarking, insulation, flooring, driveway, alarm, remote door etc. Or skip this packages and add those we can ourselves after handover - i.e. flooring, driveway and roller door opener. The package adds $45K to the base price. Any comments appreaciated. We suspect we may be able to take out the middle man and therefore put more money into the right block of land. Re: Help - Should we take the builder package? 2Jul 06, 2009 10:33 pm It seems a bit steep to me, but it depends on what those site costs are. It also depends on what type of floor they are offering. My standard tiles was approx $8000, I went for 600x600 porcelains which is $17,000. Roller door remote is $500, Kevin Rudd is giving away some insulation, do you want/need an alarm, and paving same goes with the tiles do you like the standard pavers, from memory paving was approx $70 m2, say $100m2 including the paver. And is stormwater done if they do paving cause my quote for that was $12,000 as I need a pump/sump. Re: Help - Should we take the builder package? 3Jul 10, 2009 10:20 am Thanks for responding. We have done some investigations and I think we can be about $15,000 ahead if we do those things ourselves, i suppose it's still a bit of a gamble either way. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20355 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 15980 Hi All, I just wanted to close this topic out with an update. So we ended up agreeing to a number with the insurance company, and after an extensive amount of hand… 8 23388 |
