Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 06, 2009 10:45 pm Hi Everyone,
Have been on this forum for some time now, Been reading everyone else's progress and we have decided to start our own thread on our build. We bought our land back in July last year expecting to settle last October. Actual settlement date was May 19th this year We are going through with a private builder who has been fantastic thus far. Our block was pegged last week and we are eagerly awaiting plumbing this week and hopefully a slab pour next week, weather depending of course. Have also attached our plans for everyone to see. We have spent a lot of time designing and going through the plans. But suggestions are still more than welcome Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Enjoy Lam and Genevieve Re: Lam and Genevieve's House Build 2Jul 06, 2009 11:09 pm Looking great Lam and Genevieve! It has been a long wait for you guys too, like many others on this forum. I hope it all goes well for you from here. Keep those pics coming... we all love them!! buzz Re: Lam and Genevieve's House Build 3Jul 06, 2009 11:39 pm Thanks Buzz, we are looking forward to everything coming together. The wait is killing us though, and the damm rain (even though we need it) will surely slow the process down. But hey we have a Water Meter!!!! and Pegs Re: Lam and Genevieve's House Build 5Jul 07, 2009 10:57 am Oh I like the plan. It has a few nice little differences. I like where the study is... you can be on Homeone but still be near the action! Lovely big linen and nice garage extension.... and a perfectly positioned coat cupboard! Not enough homes have a coat cupboard. Congratulations on starting. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Congratulations and Good Luck Re: Lam and Genevieve's House Build 8Jul 07, 2009 2:06 pm Good luck with your build, I hope you see some action at the site today. Very nice plan, I really like the master bedroom at the back, our house has the same thing Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: Lam and Genevieve's House Build 10Jul 07, 2009 9:54 pm Hi all – Genevieve here. Thanks for the comments! Lam and I have got so much from this site and so many great ideas that we are really excited to now be talking about our own experience! Joles the coat cupboard was actually an afterthought as we had such a large pantry but I am glad that we thought of it and added that in. The main bathroom is what my parents had and I found it was a great idea – someone could shower while the other used the washbasin so less chance for arguments in the morning! Plus I am not a big fan of toilets in the bathroom so having that separately was a must and having the washbasin separate means that you can still wash your hands if someone else is having a shower. It’s such a convenient way to lay out the main bathroom that I was surprised that I didn’t see any display houses doing it anymore. The master bedroom at the back of the house was mainly due to us wanting it to be close to the kids bedrooms (when they eventually come into the picture!). Having the French doors into the backyard was an added bonus! Bam we are actually in Mill Park lakes itself – good detective work! Will keep the pictures coming when there are any new and exciting (though everything is exciting to us! ) developments! Cheers, Genevieve Re: Lam and Genevieve's House Build 11Jul 07, 2009 10:06 pm I only just paid attention to the bathroom! I like alllooooot! Very practical! Our site supervisor is the short stocky guy with the scarf on his head, such a sweet man, very talkative and lots of laughs to be around. He is our builders father in law as well. Drove past last night and OMG! They nearly finished the framing in one day. Everything was cut on site. Very impressed. They had to finish off a little early as it started to rain.
