Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 06, 2009 7:19 pm Hi. We are having great difficulty deciding between DFH and NBG. NBG are offering a great deal with extras at the moment but I've read the horror stories about the quality. On the other hand, we will have to pay extra for stuff (which is free at the moment with NBG) to go with DFH. Any comments would be appreciated...it's all very confusing...Cheers Rowena Re: Any comments on NBG or DFH? 2Jul 06, 2009 7:38 pm My father in law is building through DFH and it's so far so good. Having said that he's hasn't signed contracts yet. He is up to soil tests. The reason we looked into them for my FIL is we had heard good things about them and their quality. I hadn't heard anything bad. Of course there is an exception to every rule but I guess everyone has individual circumstances. Good luck. Re: Any comments on NBG or DFH? 3Jul 06, 2009 7:48 pm Thanks Brendon. I went out to the block yesterday and spoke to one of the neighbours. He built with DFH (I knew because I'd seen his house on their website). He was really happy with them. Was too late to knock on the guy next door to him who built with NBG. He was telling me that he watched the NBG house go up and they cut the block and rather than fill it, they took all the soil away, so now his house is lower than it should be. Also the brick work doesn't seem to be that good. But, on the positive, NBG include colourbond roof, dishwasher and all sorts of other extras (including fully installed theatre room which DP loves) which would cost thousands if we go with DFH. Went to the display home of NBG at the weekend and you can see the cracks in the paint above the door. We don't want to end up with a lemon. Re: Any comments on NBG or DFH? 4Jul 06, 2009 7:53 pm We are with NBG (building in regional Vic) and are very happy with the quality of work We also loved all the bonus offers and found a design that suited us. We are 4 and a half months into the build and about 2 wks from finishing Re: Any comments on NBG or DFH? 6Jul 06, 2009 8:10 pm We had a sliding door go missing Apart from my splashback issue which is most likely not anyone's fault everything is going great. Oh and they did put on the wrong soapholders but that was easy fixed. SS is very easy to chat to Re: Any comments on NBG or DFH? 7Jul 07, 2009 5:20 am We just built with NBG and are quite happy. The only issues we have with our house are being fixed. Our builder is our SS and very accessible. Find out who they are allocating you as a builder and ask on here about them. Fi has moved in!! A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home. We managed to reach practical completion 6 weeks ago but we haven't heard any date for handover yet. Who should we… 0 5800 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 12719 I am looking at building a house. Has anyone used Construkt Homes (based in Adelaide)? Does anyone have experience with this builder? 0 6446 |
