Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 04, 2009 9:08 am We had our tiling appointment at Beaumont's the other day and picked wall tiles that were 100x300 for the bathroom/ensuite etc. M had a bunch of "labour charges" >450 on any side, < 150x150 etc. so we specifically asked the girl what happended with the 100x300. She said they are fine, everything we're doing is standard. This week we got a variation from M for 600 for tiling labour. When i questioned it they said they charge for <150 on ANY side. Now the price sheet i signed doesn't have this anywhere and we did ask about it so I really don't think we should have to pay for that. Anyone else had problems with this. Been asking to talk to our CSC..haven't been able to get her on the phone. All she says is it incurs an extra charge in each email she sends. Getting really frustrated and have even started building yet. GRR! Or am I misunderstanding? lol Re: Random extra tiling charges? 5Jul 08, 2009 5:56 pm Sorry..my bad wording is confusing...no..doesn't cost for email contact.. only each email was stating that the extra charges remained. I do know if its excessive but the way I would work it out is by determining how much coverage you have. Height of wall by length of wall in mm and divide by 1000000 should be sq meters. then compare to cost of tile, remember to allow extra I would round up to the nearest whole tile to calc. for example out bathroom is 1500 x 2000 say ceiling is 32c which is 2743. 1500 x 2743 + 2000 x 2743 = 9600500 x 2 = 19201000 which is about 19.2 sq meters. this is assuming that the entire walls would be covered which is not correct but I think they charge more when tiles need to be cut and when they need to go around items. I was told that they simply count the tiles or part thereof to calc how much is laid. While it may work out more it does give you a ball park to work from. Tilers out there please correct me or help improve the estimation process for me as I am learning as well. cheers mark Unless there were unforeseeable issues with the site, I dont think you should have to pay for contractors errors or poor planning. I'd probably try and be reasonable and… 5 4641 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7793 |
