Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 29, 2009 9:56 am just wondering how often people check the progress of the building and how far will they be traveling from? Re: building progress 2Jun 29, 2009 10:01 am Like Joles likes to say, I'm a my build is a 50km round trip and I need to stop going everyday. Once I'm locked out I might... maybe... hrmmm . But these days most tradesmen are too self sufficient, they don't even take up offers of coffeee!!!! . .. . . Usually I tried to make a point of introducing myself to different people that arrive for the first time and let them know I was here if there were any problems or whatever, sometimes offered coffee etc but mostly we have tried to stay away and leave them alone and went up to have a look at progress only after they were gone for the day. Re: building progress 9Jul 01, 2009 5:29 pm We are a 1 minute drive so we frequently visit the build (mutiple times each day - drive bys that is) Re: building progress 11Jul 01, 2009 5:46 pm lisanne Like Joles likes to say, I'm a my build is a 50km round trip and I need to stop going everyday. Once I'm locked out I might... maybe... hrmmm . Well I guess that makes me a double as mine is 100K round trip. Every second day at the moment.... don't want to miss the slab pour especially as it's school holidays and DS wants to see some action! And obviously (using logic) it will be so much better if I see it. Like aaron4erin, I used to "visit" my block...... You decide to build... you get all and you turn into a . It's ok.... don't fight it..... you're just not as normal as you once were. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: building progress 12Jul 01, 2009 7:00 pm hnkryan aaron4erin We wont start building for another few months... but we visit our block EVERY weekend, sometimes both on saturday AND sunday. It's an hour return trip. Remember dont get over excited as building can be a happy process if you dont let emotion and time restraints come into the picture. Talk to your builder and dont ask him when will it be finished, ask him about how something is done to learn to understand the process, the builder will appreciate your interest and then it will be easier for you to find out when things will be done, hnkryan.com Re: building progress 13Jul 01, 2009 7:02 pm Ours hasn't started yet, but I can look out my kitchen or study window and see the site where it will be!! I was also going to offer coffee, or cake or whatever to the builders. We'll see. I don't want them to feel l'm watching them all the time. which I will be Love Kristi Living the dream. 4 horsey acres in the country. What's the next project??? We usually go over at least 1 day on the weekend. Between my husband & I we have been there at least every second day since site start checking out the progress. Always exciting when you turn up and something new has been done. We got locked up on Thursday so now if the builders aren't on site we will have to resort to peeping through windows.
