Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278' - Termite protection question? 61Sep 10, 2009 10:53 am The coral inclusions sheet says that they include enough to meet "Termite prevention to Australian Standards 3660". Does anyone know what 3660 is? 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278' - Termite protection question? 62Sep 10, 2009 3:34 pm alk walker79 Just wondering if any fellow Coral buildees added in any additional Termite protection (eg. Termimesh) apart from Coral's standard included mowing strip? We're a little concerned it may not be enough protection. Umm we got the mowing strip and Kordon termite protection as standard. Don't Coral do the Kordon as standard anymore? Our first SS gave us a sample at our on site meeting. Ok....so we have been told by our SC that the mowing strip was all that was included. Do you know where it was used in your build? (eg. slab penetrations, perimeter) Was Kordon mentioned in your contract? I wonder also if lostcause got Kordon too? Because if Kordon is included then we won't need the Termimesh. But our SC didn't mention Kordon when we asked for the Termimesh to be added. Interesting..... Thanks guys for your feedback Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278' - Termite protection question? 64Sep 12, 2009 3:24 pm walker79 Ok....so we have been told by our SC that the mowing strip was all that was included. Do you know where it was used in your build? (eg. slab penetrations, perimeter) Was Kordon mentioned in your contract? ALTERM was used for the slab penetrations and KORDON for the piers and perimetre. I've got a treatment sticker dated 05/07/09. Definatly not in contract but it was in the tender IIRC. You guys would have some form of protection on top of the mowing strip. AS3660 deals with physical termite protection barriers such as stainless steel mesh and graded granite. So looks like Coral now use a termimesh type product which is fine as long as its installed correctly. Kordon is a poisonous plastic covering around the slab. Al & Caitie- Building the Hamilton 278 (Coral) at Narangba Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278' - Termite protection question? 65Sep 14, 2009 2:44 pm So we found out that Coral only do the Termimesh to the slab pentrations as standard (as well as the mowing strip) and we have to pay for the Termimesh to the perimeter if we want it, the cost for the perimeter only is $2770! Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278' - Termite protection question? 66Sep 14, 2009 3:00 pm hey renee, what is the slab penetrations? sorry 2014 - Prepping to build the Soho 4 with Plantation homes, industrial style 2009 - Built the Brampton with Coral Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15399&start=280 Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278' - Termite protection question? 67Sep 14, 2009 3:06 pm Jess09 hey renee, what is the slab penetrations? sorry Aha! Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278'-house under contract! 73Sep 26, 2009 8:42 pm Don't stress too much about finalising the sale......even if that one tanks, chance are if it went after only a week, you'd get more bites if it had to go back on the market. Good point LC, we still had our OFI and had heaps of interest but let's hope we won't have to worry about that though OMG Thats great news - wish ours sold within a week! Cheers Kim Hey Kim, We did list with Go Gecko and we have been happy with them so far. We were lucky that we had a lot going for us price, location and style of house. That helped to sell the house quickly. My fingers are still firmly crossed though. I feel for you guys, waiting and wondering does suck. I just couldn't stand having to clean my house all the time for inspections. Good luck Re: Our Coral 'Hamilton 278'-house under contract! 80Sep 28, 2009 1:24 pm walker79 We did list with Go Gecko and we have been happy with them so far. Good luck Hi Renee - you are right - you have escaped the most painful part of selling - having to keep the place tidy Seriously tho - glad it has happened quickly for you - I think our problem was it was on the market for a month back in May - had a contract that fell thru (long story but we now know it is always the wife who buys a house!) and we pulled it off & left it a month or so before relisting (we were going to keep it then as a rental) - guess we should have put it back on straight away. So learn from us - if this one does fall over (fingers crossed it doesnt tho) get it back out there asap! Good news is today agent has verbal offer - for our minimum price - hopefully they get the buyer on paper today & we will be rolling too! Cheers Kim Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13746 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 1768 It seems very clear to me that your contract states that a security account does NOT need to be established so the answer to the builder is NO. If in doubt find a contract… 1 8501 |
