If you are considering building with this company or already building with them, read this thread. This is what has happened to me, my neighbours and many people.
1. They will try to delay the process so that you will miss your contract expity date and then say that you have to pay for a price increase. Mine was 410K and my neighbours was $30K
Solution: speak ot their management and say that you will take the business away to another builder. They will waive the price increase. My neighbour has done this.
2. They will not tell you the standard number of electrical items such as TV points, power poitns and light points etc. C does not have standard TV points or data points at all. You will have to pay a lot of money for your electrical appointment. No external light point at all. $135 for a TV/data point.
3. They said they are doing 2 coat of paint. 2 coats means one base coat and one colour paint. Not two coat of colour paint. You will jave problme with one coat of colour paint.
4. The standard range is very basic. Expensive for brick upgrade. The estimator is poor. My friend is using a brick that si the same price as mine. I was charged $5K and she was charged $12K and her house is smaller than mine.
5. They will hit you with a large number of variations.
6. Tile appointment is with Beaumont tiles. Only a small number of standard tiles to choose from. If you wnat to choose outside this range. The tile allowance is only $25 per square meter.
7. Mortar problem with your brickwork - caused by using cheap coarse sand in the mortar and excessive high pressure cleaning. This happens to all the C homes in my suburb.
8. The site supervisor does not really check over the work. SO you need to get independent inspection during critical stage.
9.Brickwork is poor with using sub-standard tradesmen. Underpaying these people as I was told by their bricklayers.
10. Always order the wrong materials, exhaust fan, vanities, wrong measurement, wrong colour etc but they will refuse to correct and ask you to accept their error.
11. They are always right and will always that the building is fit for purpose and if you are unhappy, go to the Tribunal to sue them. They will always win because they have their legal staff and you have to spend dollars on solicitor and buildign consultant and specialist costs if you go to the Tribunal and will take ages to get a hearing
12. The Custoemr Service person is so poor that they don't reply to your phone call or emails.
13. The construction process is so slow as they are very unorganised. The final outcoe is a crap product and you have a nightmare experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.
