Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Weatherboard Display Homes 2Jun 24, 2009 12:10 pm I think Waverley Homes used to have a couple... not sure about now. You could go to Harkaway Homes in Officer. They have a couple of homes built, but will also give you a brochure of homes they've built. The other thing I'd do is drive around some older areas, such as Box Hill and check out some old weatherboard houses to get ideas. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Far less maintenance than actual weatherboards - even by the sea! There's another company who do predominantly weatherboard homes...I think they're based in Ringwood , or Heathmont, but I can't rememberthe name...something Cottages...??? I'll try to remember!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Weatherboard Display Homes 4Jun 24, 2009 2:53 pm petal Our first house was weatherboard....they can look so gorgeous!!! Re: Weatherboard Display Homes 5Jun 25, 2009 1:15 pm Focus06 My partner and I are going to be building our home in Weatherboard (Hardie Plank). Does anyone know of any display homes in VIC built in weatherboard? Just so we can have a look for ideas of colours.... etc I'm not sure about display homes, but you can take a drive in Laurimar, Doreen. A lot of weatherboard houses there. We like weatherboard look as well. The one negative thing our builder told us about Hardie's cladding is that it's not as robust as bricks and you can easily break it with a sledgehammer. Re: Weatherboard Display Homes 6Nov 05, 2010 2:24 pm I'm not being a smart *** but, would you hit your house with a sledgehammer? also what are the chances of that happening? and if it was brick it would still leave a masive chip in it. I think go for what you love the most Re: Weatherboard Display Homes 7Nov 30, 2010 10:20 am subee I'm not being a smart *** but, would you hit your house with a sledgehammer? also what are the chances of that happening? and if it was brick it would still leave a masive chip in it. My Nanna has lived in a weatherboard house since 1976 and boards have never need replacing never been hit with a sledge hammer, been painted about 3 times and the house has actualy dated better than the brick home next door. And how about all those qlders that have been around for over 100 years......... We have built our house with hardies stria and rendered blue board, due needing a light weight construction, so we would have less excavation on our sloping block. All you have to do is make sure you insulate the walls.
