Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 23, 2009 8:10 pm Hi All, We are very close to finishing the house with Simonds, and we have been contemplating whether to ask the following brick to be fixed or not. As "Brickie" stated it is laid in a half bond for strength , if the line went straight up the wall it would crack. Personally we make most of our internal corners an expansion joint that is then caulked, mostly because it is easier to lay but also looks neater. Technically that brickwork is done the right way and should NOT be a straight line unless it is an expansion/control/articulation joint.
