Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 22, 2009 12:55 am I was looking at the latest photos I've taken of the house, and realised that the tiles in the loo have been laid differently than I thought they would. Re: Would this bother you? 3Jun 22, 2009 1:01 am If the door is hinged on the left of your picture, I'd leave them. Re: Would this bother you? 5Jun 22, 2009 1:46 am In that case, it would really bother me! If I was doing them myself, I'd centre the tile across the doorway, and have equal ones eiter side. I know it's more work - more cuts, but it would be worth it for symmetry. If you wanted to avoid the additional cuts, then I'd want the full tiles in the most exposed part. Re: Would this bother you? 6Jun 22, 2009 8:29 am I'd say centered. But seeing it's already down..i wonder if it won't look too bad once the door is on as the door will cut off some of the view to the full tile to the right. Does it cost to get them to rip it up and redo it? They called it "square laid" where it was done centred. Unless it is specified in your selections, I'd think you might struggle to get it changed without them charging you. Re: Would this bother you? 12Jun 22, 2009 11:27 pm Hi Judie, Could you ask them to hinge the door to the left? is this a solution? (our powder room hinges to the left) that way you will be looking at a full tile on the other side. What do you think? (I like the colour of the tiles) T. Re: Would this bother you? 13Jun 23, 2009 12:58 am Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Every-time I go to the toilet, I have a newspaper with me, blocking out any piss-poor tile work. This is the current bathroom with a european laundry. Overall internal dimensions are 3.69 wide and 3.65m deep, including the footprint of the laundry.
