Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 22, 2009 12:13 am I am buying a brand new terrace house, and while there isn't a lot of flexibility with the colour scheme choices, I do have the option of getting an 'upgrade package'. The problem is, I'm not sure if it's worth the money. Basically it includes polished ceramic tiles instead of matt, stone benchtops instead of laminate, glossy kitchen cupboards, better taps, a dishwasher and additional window furnishings (roller blinds). The upgrade costs $9,500, which seems like a lot to me, but if it will add value and make a difference in the long run then I would consier it. Any thoughts on whether this is a good option or not? Re: Advice on 'upgrade package' for new home 2Jun 22, 2009 6:59 am It sounds like the actual upgrade cost is being applied but mainly for things that you can't do after handover (excluding blinds) I think the items will add value and I would want them in a home... Re: Advice on 'upgrade package' for new home 4Jun 22, 2009 4:55 pm Thanks guys, I think I might go ahead with it. The house is 135m2. Most of the extras only apply to the ground floor living area which is 67m2, but I think the shiny tiles and stone benchtop will make more of an impact when I do eventually go to sell Can anyone recommend a good/affordable retaining wall and fence builder that I can get a quote from located in Sydney? 8 45660 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing.
