Re: The Roses - We have a slab!!!! 46Oct 01, 2009 6:41 pm EmoH Very nice slab there. That's very quick. You've got a nice level block. How long did it take to dry and remove all the wood? I am still waiting for the pour. Hi EmoH! They started the pour around 7:00am and finished around 9:30am. They started removing the formwork around 11:30-12:00. They were offsite by 1:30 - 2:00. The slab curing agent was applied the next morning. We're very lucky with our nice flat block - although that didn't mean that our site costs were any cheaper! She is clearly the more social one. After few dramas with the slab and some unhappy sub-contractors, we now have the foundation that we want. Based on our service, we can recommend Boral and Testrite. We are going out to look at the slab again tomorrow, and it should be almost half cured by then. Plumbing should be scheduled for next week - I don’t really want them driving over the slab this early, but cant really stop them as they have engineering approval. We are now looking forward to the frames, bricks and roof. This should be close to the end of my involvement . We decided that I check the structure and Mrs Rose attends to all finer details, fittings and colours. This way we don’t have any arguments - and to most part this has worked well. We just gave each other veto rights if we didn’t think we could live with a decision. I am not sure which of having a baby or building a house is the most stressful. At the moment the house has it hands down. It is great to see there are so many others that are at a similar stage, and are interested in our build (as we are yours). Welcome to the forum Mr. Rose Letting Mrs. Rose take care of the "finer details" is probably a wise choice at this "stage of developments" Best of wishes for your build, we'll be watching with interest as we've got the same bricks as you. It's always interesting to see how similar or different they can turn out Re: The Roses - Frames delivered!!!! 59Oct 12, 2009 5:19 pm Woohoo! Our frames have been delivered - no photos to post as we won't be out to the site to see them until the weekend but our SS thinks he'll have the first floor finished by then , so at least that'll be worthy of the trip and we'll have some pretty piccies for all the piggies out there! The frame seems to go up very quickly, can't wait to see how it turns out! I hope you like the bricks you've picked out, the more I see them on my own house, the more I wish we had just gone with them in the first place. They really look good. 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6346 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16118 Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed.
