Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 20, 2009 4:10 pm No, it's not a new fuel type (although it'd be bloody cheap !!!!).
Actually, was wondering what people's approaches/learnings were in regards to using recycled water (as in purple pipe) to wash cars/house windows, etc in normal every day use. I've heard a few things saying it can stain paint, etc - but isn't the whole idea of recycled for gardens/cars/driveways, etc ? Love to hear the thoughts *** NOTE : Heading changed to stop confusion !!! *** Re: Recycled Water for cars...... 2Jun 20, 2009 4:15 pm i clicked this thinking it was a run your car on water thing. Now that is cool for anyone not aware. Have I done it? No but it is cool something about running a current through water to create hydrogen gas which is injected into the intake plenum on your cars engine or into the cylinder chamber of the engine. Massive savings on fuel It is said that the guy who discovered this entered a military contract and was killed the next day. Previous to that he had been offered billions in cash for his patents by oil companies. I would not suggest using recycled or grey water on your cars exterior at all. This is likely to increase corrosion where panels are joined and cause, in some cases, significant damage to the paint surface. Re: Recycled Water for cars...... 3Jun 20, 2009 5:50 pm I have heard the same. I believe with recycled water, the colour isnt removed so it is an appealing yellow colour and can stain surfaces. We will be moving into an estate with recycled water and I wont be using it for anything other than garden and the toilets. Within the next few years the cost of recycled water will be the same as tier 1 fresh water from what I understand, so the incentive to really utilise it is lost. Seems crazy to me... There is talk of water restrictions being lifted once the water projects (vic) are up and running so it might be an idea to have fresh water outdoor taps installed next to the outdoor recycled ones at the back of the house for car washing/window washing purposes in the future. Interested to hear other's thoughts.. Re: Using Recycled Water to wash cars...... 4Jun 21, 2009 5:29 am Interesting, I think Sandarra (near us) should stop advertising the fact you can wash your car and boat with the damn stuff !!!! I'm assuming it's only really good for washing - (a) gardens, (b) driveways, (c) dogs who won't stop annoying you ! Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room. There is a hallway/entry that is never used, so was thinking this could be an option. Only… 0 4709 2 823 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
