Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Home Design Software 61May 23, 2007 10:35 am Perry, I like the staggered arrangement so you can have front-facing windows, but isn't that going to add a small fortune to the cost ? The more complex layout and, as you already know, the very complex roof, is sure to add thousands. Are those windows worth it ? Re: Home Design Software 62May 23, 2007 10:38 am Agreed - this is our "preferred" design, not necessarily a practical design.
It's early days - and once we show these things to a builder, I'm sure we will get a reality check. Still - I like the front facing windows! Cheers Perry Re: Home Design Software 63May 23, 2007 11:04 am I'm going the absolute opposite direction: A Georgian-style which is traditionally a simple 'box'. Keeps everything very straightforward. I'm even trying to put every plumbing service directly onto the western wall.
But at 44 squares it's still a monster ! Trouble is that I really don;t want to go through the hassle of building unless I get something I'm really happy with. Otherwise I might as well just buy something established... Re: Home Design Software 64May 23, 2007 11:08 am I just received my official MVH disk in the mail - it's an updated version to the one I obtained previously, which was the Better Homes and Gardens version.
Is anyone able to work with the block of land? We have an odd shaped block, which is why we are not designing the rectangle home. I'd like to be able to site the house on the land. Matt? Cheers Perry Re: Home Design Software 65May 23, 2007 12:00 pm Perry,
I am still using the BHG version 5... are you saying they have more options in the version 6 .... have they added the landscaping feature?? Matt Re: Home Design Software 66May 23, 2007 6:50 pm I am running build 1698, not sure what version, but I perform the updates when available, the homeshare codes are available so I guess its 1.6.
And the COMING IN 2006 for extra features is still no go.......UNFORTUNATELY Re: Home Design Software 67May 24, 2007 1:07 pm I've been having a couple of issues with My Virtual Home.
I found a nasty little bug in the system. Every now and then, the program loses all the resources like rooms, furniture and so on from the left-hand menus. All you get is the search option. It's painful because you have to save your model, exit, restart the application and reload your model to get everything back again. Sometimes it happens 2 minutes in, sometimes 5 minutes and then sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Anyone else had that problem? The implementation of the 'Undo' feature (Ctrl-Z) is *******. Instead of removing the last step you did, it deletes your building and redoes every single step except the last step you did. If you have a lot of fittings and bits in your building, be prepared to wait a long time!! Re: Home Design Software 68May 24, 2007 1:17 pm I've had the problem you describe happen to me a couple of time with the BHG version of the software.
I think it depends on how you use the menus at the left - I've not actually sat down to try and reproduce the problem. I just save and restart. Perry ideal house depends on the site and location as much as internal floor plan....what is the distance from the house to all four boundaries, where is north, describe your… 3 15142 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13817 |
