Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 09, 2007 10:40 pm I just finished this for my blog and though that I mights share it in here as well...
I know there is a lot of brown, but remember this stage of the building process was never mine....I am the spectator!! These are the kitchen colours form the manufacturers internet samples. Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 6May 10, 2007 5:10 pm All looks pretty good to me!
The carpets look quite practical. Look like hard-twist pile wool (if not nylon). A note about the carpets.... do you have any windows or doors at floor level where direct sunlight will fall on the carpets? If so, UV block tinting is a good idea, as the sun can cause premature fading and damage after a while. Ash. Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 7May 10, 2007 5:26 pm Hey Ash,
The carpet is an 80/20 wool blend. After reading lots of posts this seemed to be the best mix for us. The UV hint is a good one. Do they make a UV tint that isn't darkened?? Matt Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 8May 10, 2007 5:39 pm Thumbs up for the 80/20 mix. Looks similar (but dif colour) to the carpet style in one of our bedrooms, a hard-twist made by Cavalier Bremworth of New Zealand. It is one colour but the random tuft twist direction gives it a kind of two-tone affect.
I'm not to cluey about window tints, but I constantly see the damage where carpets are right up to windows. I advise against windows to the floor for this reason. If it can't be avoided, tinting or some kind of sun protection is recommended. You'd be best to see what's available and choose the best protection that you like. Another thing, you have blackish roof tiles. How is the thermal affect of these? Maybe they are more efficient these days, but I always thought darker colours are more prone to absorbing heat. Cheers! Ash. Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 9May 10, 2007 6:13 pm Love the colours! They blend really well...not that I am an expert!
I went for alot of brown/mocha tones as well....much to my husband's disgust!!! This is the third time we are building and the last two times I went for creams/blues/purples so I am a bit anxious as it will be totally different but slab has only just gone down so still awhile to wait!! Good luck with it all! Nat Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 11May 11, 2007 2:25 pm Hi there,
These look like fantastic colours, well done. We are going through the colour debate now, just when you think you have decided, another alternative pops up... Just one question, what is the name of the laminates you have chosen, cant quite see it on the net.. Well done again, looks fantastic. Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 12May 11, 2007 3:01 pm OK rang the director of colour and these are the colours:
Top cabinets - Peruvian Clay - Laminex Benchtop - Ginger - caeserstone Bottom cabinets - Espresso - Laminex I am taking no credit at all for the colour choices here, but thank you for your impressions. Matt Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 13May 14, 2007 10:37 pm Hi Matt,
Had a peek at your blog...the floorplan looks massive..I hope you are not making your poor wife do all the cleaning...how many squares is it built up by the way? the display home pics look very nice...good choice of colors too...no white!!! The meals and alfresco area is very similar to ours..you are getting bi-folds as well? We did away with the formal dining and living..they are virtually untouched in every friend's house we have been too...we just have a dining & family area and a big retreat upstairs... Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 14Jul 16, 2007 10:09 pm Finally collected some samples of the other colours we are using in the house.
Here are the wall colours we have chosen... The main wall colour will be Olivine (Bristol) The 2 feature walls (1 in the entrance and the other in the master bedroom) will be Manhattan (Taubmans) The theatre room will be painted the same colour for the walls and the ceiling. It will be Greenstead (Taubmans). Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 15Jul 17, 2007 10:18 am Matt, I can't see any of your images. So, I've just done a view source and took the link from there.
Please tell your wife she has done a fantastic job on the colours. It's going to look great. I'm a big fan of brown myself. [sneakersss] Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 16Jul 17, 2007 10:32 am Thanks Missy,
I should have known better than to link to blogger pics! I have posted them to my own server..... now they work! Re: Colours, colours, colours.... 17Jul 17, 2007 10:41 am Colours look brilliant Matt.
We had originally chosen a darker brown for the bedroom feature .... should have heard Dad's reaction when we told him!! Apparently he used to have 'mission brown' right throughout their house years ago. Said that it's all in the name ... 'chocolate' sounds much nicer than 'brown'. ) your house is awesome .. bet you are on the countdown to when you can move in (that trip to Queensland before you move in should take your mind off the move!!). Amber http://www.ourdreamhouse.blogspot.com Hey. Head to a metal and decide on which profile you will use first. Profiles with larger corrugations can greatly change the appearance of the color in different… 0 2138 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 23983 |
