Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 17, 2009 3:36 pm Hi everone, Thought it was about time that I posted on here instead of reading everyone else's posts. We are building in Butler with the HBC. We officially signed up in September last year. Finance came through great. We did pre-start last year & we were ready to go. Our biggest hold up was the title on our land. The title was due on the 31st December but, as it was around the xmas break the contractors that were preparing the land all went on holidays. I never knew just how long of a break some people in this industry get over xmas. Maybe I need to change proffessions haha. So anyway our title got that far delayed but it finally went through on the 5th March. Once this happened things started to move very fast. We were the first to build on this side of the street so I think it made it easier for the contractors being able to access the block from all angles. We had our slab poured on the 17th April. The bricks were dropped off on the 24th April. The brickies did an excellent job. The brickwork, door frames & window frames were done by the 20th May. The roof frame started the next day. The roof frame, the eaves & the downpipes were finished about the 29th May. On the 4th June our colorbond roof was finished!!! I love it!!! After the roof was finished the electrician came through. He was finished in a couple of days. Then the plumber came through. The plumber actually worked on a saturday which was awesome. None of the other HBC contractors had worked on the weekend so far. After the plumbing was done they started to plaster our walls. They do an under coat for the plaster. It is a grey kind of colour. I think it is call floating?? They have also put in the metal to all the corners of the walls....I have had a complete mind blank as to what this is called. So anyway this is what we are up to. They just had the main bedroom left to do the grey plaster when I went past last night. Hopefully they finished this today. I called my liason person today for an estimated completion date & she couldnt give me one but said that from lock up I am looking at 9 - 11 weeks. She said that all we have left to go before lockup is the plaster top coat to be finished & the ceilings to be done. Then of course the windows & doors. It is very exciting. All round I have found HBC a pleasure to deal with. Do find I know more going straight to my block rather than the fortnightly update but!! Well I hope this helps anyone looking at time frames. I know how impatient you can get waiting!!! Not long now....hopefully. Almost at lockup & just got engaged....What a great year!! There are so many kids everywhere but hahaha. I have to drive like 20 when I am heading to the house as the kids just run out of no-where. My little girl is so happy she will have someone to play with too!! Will be great once the Jindalee Marina is completed too. Will be a great place to go & will up the $$ of our properties. Also I am hoping the Brighton tavern will be nice too Almost at lockup & just got engaged....What a great year!! Re: Building in Butler with HBC 15Jun 18, 2009 12:14 pm You are soooo lucky your build is moving along. Mine seems to have come to a standstill. My slab went down before Easter, and now I have just had half my tiles put on the roof. With the rain today, it will wet the walls again. They ran out of tiles ... the skip is full of broken tiles. Now I have to wait for the walls to dry. Built the Driftwood with C*ollier Homes Moved in 8 November 2009 Slowly getting organised ..... All those people signing up now will be lucky to build over summer. No delays....except for xmas. I hope the weather clears up for you & your house moves along quickly!!! Oh and CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement!! Exciting times ahead!! Thanks heaps!!! Yeah my friends parents live in Jindalee so we can see all the construction from their balcony. Think there is going to be some restaurants down there. Will be great once its done. Can probably walk home from there Almost at lockup & just got engaged....What a great year!! Re: Building in Butler with HBC 19Jun 18, 2009 2:03 pm I'm building in Jindalee about 5 blocks up from the beach on Jindalee Boulevard. There is no marina being built there, but in Jindee about 1km north. However there is a kiosk, parks, BBQ's, 2 playgrounds and 3 access boardwalks to the beach so it will be fantastic. In about 5 years they will be building 4 storey apartments down by the beach and it is hopefully at that time that resturants will appear. If you drive down to the bottom of Jindalee Boulevard you will see they have a large sign with an artist impression of how it's going to look. By the way I reckon the blocks are way under valued and will rise in price considerably when the beachfront is completed in October. My 670 square metre block was $380 k....a steal I think (Time will tell!!).
