Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Butler with HBC 21Jun 18, 2009 3:32 pm Jade,I have built a couple of investment properties in "the Green" and it is a great area that has potential for future growth once the train comes through. When you have your landscaping done remember they include landscaping and reticulation to the whole block including the sides of the house. It can be a very cost effective way of covering the sand at the side of the house (even the side you don't use) compared to doing it yourself. Also if you do a waterwise design you get a $300 cheque from the water corp (ask the person from the landscape co when you have your design meeting). One other thing specific to "the Green" is you need CAT5 cabling for phone and TV in the house as telstra have laid fibre optic cabling in the estate. Your house looks great overlooking the park. Yes it is a great area. With the landscaping our voucher that we have to redeem this states that we cannot lawn more than 30% of the total area of our block (I think this is right) so I dont think we can lawn the whole lot as our back yard is pretty big. But would love the majority to be grassed. I have two adorable, but naughty labradors that love to dig under fences to see the neighbours so I think I will be paving along the boundaries out the back anyway hahaha. We have organised for the guy to come and connect the cabling. I left my partner in charge of that as Im not that knowledgeable in that aspect hahah Thats for the tips by the way!!! Almost at lockup & just got engaged....What a great year!! Re: Building in Butler with HBC 24Jun 18, 2009 5:13 pm Nicci House is looking good.. How lovely What's the name of the bricks you used? Re: Building in Butler with HBC 36Jun 24, 2009 9:16 pm Hey folks The only marina currently being discussed is the Ocean reef marina which is due to start in 18 months. It will be around 4 times the size of the present one. Much bigger than mindarie and Hillarys. With your landscape packages check the work being done. What you get v's what is supposed to be done are two different things and I spend a fair bit of my time sorting those out. Get along to the great gardens workshops http://www.greatgardens.info/main.php which are put on by the water corp and synergy so you guys get it right the first time. A heap of unessential water use occurs on new gardens in these newer areas and so many don't get access to the correct info before starting a landscape. A top example is dynamic lifter down on sand for an excellent lawn = trouble and $. Before your meeting with the Landscapers (Usually LDs and Landscape Australia out that way) have a squiz at John Colwill's waterwise plant selection guide. http://www.watercorporation.com.au/W/wa ... -2374-1092 PM me if any of you have any more questions as I'm often out that way Re: Building in Butler with HBC 38Jun 25, 2009 4:55 pm Hi JadeK! we're also with HBC, and our house building timeline seems similar to yours! we also signed up last year, luckily land titles came christmas eve! then prestart in Jan/Feb then slab in march. our house has been going sooo fast like yours. I was lucky to speak to my SS on the phone the other week (tip: if you ask a really tricky hard question to CLO and she tries to relay ur question to the SS, he may have no idea what ur talking about and may ask the CLO to phone you and put you through to him on the phone so u can explain yourself!!!) so was chatting to SS and he said our house is 6 weeks ahead of schedule! asked him about how long til practical completion after lock up, and he didnt want to say coz we'll just get disappointed, BUT he says generally 7-10 weeks. so im happy to expect 2 months as long as its perfect SS also said from lock-up to practical completion is the most important part of his job, so he says he's at site almost every day... Hi Pisces, Ohh wow, thats great too see you are moving at the same pace as us. It is really moving along. We actually still have not spoken to our SS. Everytime I ask our CLO things or if I can speak to the SS I get told they will find out details and call me back. Like out sidewalk has been cracked. They said the SS would look at it & they would get back to me. No answer still. Will have to see what happens. Maybe we should just rock up one day. Hopefully we might catch the SS. Went past the house & they have done all the cornices?? I think thats what they are called, between the roof & the walls. So now its the plaster & whatever else they do to the ceiling. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to get to lock up.... Almost at lockup & just got engaged....What a great year!! Re: Building in Butler with HBC 40Jun 26, 2009 3:05 pm Another Butler Boy Here. It is a great suburb. So great to walk around the lake! If only they would put the train line up here like they were supposed to. Your right about the cabling too. I went to get an antenna for my new home and they told me off before i could get one!
