Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 17, 2009 10:41 am Hey guys/girls. We've just received our contract from our builder and would love to get an extra $6,000 from the government (we're in Victoria). Does anyone know if the FHOG extension has passed through parliament? Both in State (Vic) and Federal? I'd hate to sign the contract on the 1st of July to get nothing instead of the $26,000 we would get prior to the 1st of July. Thanks in advance. I called the sro a few weeks back as I am in the same position as you and they said they can't comment as they dont know. I have been told that it should pass as FHBG legislation has never been knocked back, I also spoke with my bank and they said to sign between the 1st of July and the 30th of September. Just keep your eye on this website and hopefully it should all be ok. http://www.sro.vic.gov.au/sro/SROWebSit ... rviewtable Caine & Sarah's NBG Buckingham 36 View my thread here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19894 View all photos here: http://caineandsarah.blogspot.com Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 3Jun 17, 2009 11:05 am GSK Hey guys/girls. Greg Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 4Jun 17, 2009 11:08 am Thanks for the link! I read this bit which is interesting: # For contracts entered into up to 30 June 2009, the value of the property must not exceed $500,000. ‡ For contracts entered into between 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010, the value of the property must not exceed $600,000. The value of the property, does that include the land also? I'd imagine it does, but just checking. I actually just called SRO office today. and they said, no, it has not passed parliament. Both Federal's Boost and VIC Govt's Bonus have NOT passed parliament. The SRO staff also did not know when the decision to pass or not to pass will be finalised. So we all have to be aware of whats happening in the next week or so. oh and I believe the $500k and 600k include the land value. Happy to discuss. Our house and land is coming in at around 530k so luckily for us from the 1st of July, they're proposing for the allowance to go to 600k PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PASS PARLIAMENT! But i rang senate to see when it would come for discussion - they didn't know as usual They told me to ring the Ministry of building to get an idea - rang them and they didn't have a clue too, but she CONFIRMED WITH SOMEONE AND TOLD THAT FHOG DOES NOT NEED TO GO TO SENATE IT'S ALL BEEN APPROVED. Told me to pass on the message to SRO...I did tell them the same but thedy didn't care less to investigate about it..... So if I were you I wouldn't not Worry because it is confirmed from the ministry it self.... chill out....I can give you details who I spoke to in Canberra Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 8Jun 18, 2009 1:03 pm sorry to sound negative but someone in cambera saying it is a done deal don't really mean much if the SRO hasn't been told that it is official. It also depends on the VIC one passing as well for us all to get $32k. I am in the same boat as we don't even have contract yet Maybe you can pass on the contact detail of the person to one of the newspaper (?) to investigate as I imagine they would love to break the story and if it's in the paper it a bit harder to pull it Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 9Jun 18, 2009 1:39 pm Hey Fruitty it is not someone I spoke to one of the assistant for Tanya Plibersek. She confirmed after talking to federal treasury that it wont be needed to go to Senate. Spoke to HIA as well they said it's all approved as well... I rang SRO back with details to Confirm if it needed to go to senate as stated in their website...they wouldn't care less... Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 10Jun 18, 2009 3:07 pm We really need to know the specifics as we need to limit on the FHOG to go over $530,000 (they've proposed that it would go to $600,000 from the 1st of July). Does anyone know about that? Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 11Jun 18, 2009 3:43 pm What about the land contract date? Is that means we just need to sign the building contract between 1 Jul and 30 Sep to receive the $32,000 FHOG? It doesn't really matter when we signed the land contract? Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 13Jun 18, 2009 4:44 pm That what I thought aswell. As far as I know when you are building the grant is only eligible when you sign your contracts to build. It has nothing to do with when you purchase the land. Greg I heard on Sydney radio today that stamp duty has been cut in half for new home buyers, I believe this just applies in NSW. I had a look around on the net but I couldn't find anything about it. And I hate to rub it in but we're building in a regional area so we get an extra 4.5k ontop of the 32k...woohoo!!! Re: FHOG - 1st of July - Has it passed parliament? 20Jul 02, 2009 2:26 pm I'm from Vic and I met with our financial broker last weekend and he said that FHOB's recieve a discount on their stamp duty - not sure how much though....there were too many calculations going on at the time. In the end I think we only have to pay 3.5k SD. GSK hnkryan GSK Hey guys/girls. Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney. With the current cost of building… 0 4250 I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15244 4 14255 |
