Re: Celebration @ The Glades Byford - WE GOT WALLS!! 122Aug 27, 2009 9:08 pm Looks good, is there anything your not happy with? I dont know what's accepted as good quality or not in new house building. I see a different brick in the doorway to the bedroom hallway that looks like it was put there to fill a gap, and the toilet off the laundry has a brick that has a chunk missing out of it? It's good to see the house we are building before ours actually starts! Re: Celebration @ The Glades Byford - WE GOT WALLS!! 123Aug 27, 2009 9:46 pm Those items i believe are ok. I will have a look closer on sun when we go back up with friends. If you wanna go and have a look yourself go for it I don't mind. As for anything we don't like. I have pointed out a couple of things and they Are fixing them. Building with CELEBRATION HOMES @ THE GLADES in BYFORD W.A. A very good question, one I'll be happy to answer. You don't..... They refuse to give out the numbers and you have to deal with you middleperson. This arrangement, how inconvenient, is atleast with celebration generally acceptable. I won't start cracking skulls about it till such time as I feel our middleperson is no longer capable or competant to do their job to my satisfaction. Who is your construction co-ord?, generally that person is whom you will deal with, ours is good for now, fairly prompt and concise. I just have a personal hatred for unnecesary middlepeople and beauracratic bullsh!t. Building with CELEBRATION HOMES @ THE GLADES in BYFORD W.A. We saw some odd brickwork the other day in our walls...waiting to go weekend and have a better look. Some bricks missing large chunks. Too many un mortared perp ends. Etc etc. Nothing massivly drastic and I have seen worse but I have no tolerance for sloppy workmanship. I was happy yeah. Wife moreso. I'm the objective one. First thing I did was start checking and photoing defects. Building with CELEBRATION HOMES @ THE GLADES in BYFORD W.A. Does not putting mortar between the sides of the bricks there so the render/plaster can adhere better, or is it just corner cutting, or both?! I've seen a few houses with missing mortar between the bricks (on the vertical sides) and I've also seen some houses where the mortar has filled every gap on the internal walls. But I dont think there is ANY excuse for laying a brick that is broken or missing a chunk, not much they can do if the broken brick is 2 courses up on the wall and the wall is completed. Re: Celebration @ The Glades Byford - Bricking complete. 133Sep 03, 2009 9:38 pm Jw023 Do the gaps in between the internal wall bricks get filled with render before the walls are plastered? Does not putting mortar between the sides of the bricks there so the render/plaster can adhere better, or is it just corner cutting, or both?! We had a lot of vertical gaps in our brickwork and some chunks missing, and our SS said that in a single storey home its ok (apparently its stricter regulations for double storeys) and all gaps will be filled in during rendering, which they have. He assured us that it wouldn't effect the structural stability of the walls, but it just looked so sloppy. I definately got the impression that it was corner cutting, he said they don't have to fill all the verticals, which I translated as "we probably should have but we were too lazy". Re: Celebration @ The Glades Byford - Bricking complete. 134Sep 03, 2009 10:18 pm yeah it gets covered with the float then final plastering but it's besides the point, it does look sloppy and to me personally it's unacceptable, and as seeing as I'm the customer then meh.. my rules hehe.
