Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Internally, I selected Eco-Brick over the standard choice. From being in the house I have to say, on the hot days it was not so hot inside, and now that the weather is much cooler it's actually not that cold even though the house is bare. The window frames and sliding doors are Pearl White Commodore Homes uses Solver Paints so these were my paint selections: Front Render: Electra Downpipes and Meterbox: To match render and brickwork Entry door and Laundry door: Dovetail. Now, this colour is strange. For the entry door its a very nice light grey, but for the laundry due to it not having as much light, it looks really dark grey. When it does get a lot of light, it matches the front door. At first I thought they painted it the wrong colour! Internal door frames, doors: Smoke Pearl. I think this is a lovely colour. Roof tiles - Harmony Villa in Coal. This is not Coal, but I believe it's the replacement for it. I know what you mean about the slabs. They look tiny. When you see them it's hard to believe that they could build a liveable size house on it! I even went and measured it after they poured it to check that the size was correct. Built with Commodore Homes - The Fusion completed April 2009 (with modifications) Yes I have moved! They are SO light compared to regular clay bricks. You do have to use a certain method of hooks for the wall if you want to hang up pictures, etc. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Built with Commodore Homes - The Fusion completed April 2009 (with modifications) Yes I have moved! We asked if we would get steel or wood roof frames, they could not tell us ahead of time. They said they would only know when it came time to do it due to cost issues. In any case, we wanted steel but obviously didn't get it. That one broken on the floor looks like polystyrene! How do you have to hang pictures? From the reading I did on Eco-Brick it was developed in Europe in the 1920s and is apparently used throughout Europe, US and Asia. It's a brick made from concrete. I think rather than just hammering a nail through you use ramsets/anchors. So just different types of fittings, I think. My brother downloaded a brochure about it but I couldn't find it on the eco-brick website, but it's something along those lines I think. We are using the same one but in the Glass(green) colour with white tiles. Ours will be going around the walls. It is so strange seeing a house go up with no frame. It sounds like you get on really well with your brother. R Re: Sooty's house - Commodore Homes, Perth WA 37Jun 22, 2009 4:00 pm Oh yes, that's right. You use frames whereas we don't here in WA. I will put up picture of the border tiles. All we did was run one vertically down the centre of the shower, and then run another horizontally across the vanity splashback tiling. It would look very nice having a couple laid vertically down the centre of your shower, we just had the one so it doesn't stand out as much. If you used 2 or 3 it would be much wider. That is what a friend of mine did. However that does drive up the cost. I know ours cost $13.95 per piece. So for two or three to be used, you're looking at a lot of money. Sooty's House - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19462 Re: Sooty's house - Commodore Homes, Perth WA 38Jun 22, 2009 4:20 pm Thanks Sooty. I was thinking of doing the same thing but hubby thought it better to go the whole way round. We have increased the tile height to 1.2 for everywhere except the shower which will be the standard height. Do you have the tile between the vanity and the mirror? I haven't made a decision where abouts the border will be as I hope to talk to the tiler before they do anything. Yes they were an expensive tile but the builder range came from the 70's. We are having a matching green tile for the floor and Aloe Vera laminex cupboards with white moulded top. We haven't started building yet, maybe in the next month or so. Keep the photos coming. Love seeing what other people are doing. R Re: Sooty's house - Commodore Homes, Perth WA 39Jun 22, 2009 4:31 pm I have also seen it done around the top, like what I think you're planning to do. Are you planning to just use the one tile, or multiple to do that? Again, it looks very good if it's thick. With the vanity tiling, yes it is in between the mirror and vanity. What we have are our vanity basins and counter, one row of regular tiling and one top of that the listello border, then the mirror.
