Its my first build and we have never had wood before so can you tell me what we will need to spend money, like do we need underlay and how much will it cost for someone to lay it? Re: BLACKBUTT FLOORING ANYONE GOT ANY PICS FOR ME?? 2Feb 05, 2010 5:22 pm Hi There I'm not sure where you are located, but we are using the Big River wide Blackbutt flooring supplied through BJ's Timber. Most of which is included as a promotion with our Builder but we have extended to the activity and theatre room. When we went out to choose the wood, they mentioned a cost of $165/m. You can get the boards pre-finished or you can have them installed, sanded and polished. Re: BLACKBUTT FLOORING ANYONE GOT ANY PICS FOR ME?? 5Feb 05, 2010 8:31 pm Hi Have you considered buying your timber at auction and then getting someone to lay and polish for you. Timber at auction can cost between $25 and $150 per square metre depending on the species and grade you are after. I'm not sure the costs for laying... our brother-in-law is a floorer and does it for free for us. For our new house we bought select grey ironbark from bunnings for $62 per square metre. Our last house we had C grade sydney blue gum and that was about $30 per square metre. good luck Re: BLACKBUTT FLOORING ANYONE GOT ANY PICS FOR ME?? 7Feb 09, 2010 1:34 am Hi rhi, we were initially quoted $150pm for wide blackbutt, then decided to go for the narrower boards which came in at $120p including laying, moisture beading and sanding/polishing. Have put down a deposit and will pay the rest on installation. Don't have any pics yet, but hopefully will have them laid early april Built "The Manor" with Ventura We have an ocean view....IF WE STAND ON OUR TIPPY TOES!!
