Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 15, 2009 10:59 am Hi everyone, Does anyone know how much soil testing should be costing me? As i was told to pay $1000 for soil testing to be done, but was told from a friend that, that price was too much... Also is anyone else building in the western area of Melbourne and has a site cost quote? Any feedback would be greatly appriciated! Re: HELP - First time building! 5Jun 15, 2009 12:28 pm Lots of people have built with M - if you search it will show up (or check out the blogs thread - they are sorted by builder). Maybe a quick call to your CSC to ask whether this is all soil testing or whether it is the initial deposit. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: HELP - First time building! 6Jun 15, 2009 1:41 pm When we were with M we paid $1,000 for soil and contour survey. It just comes off your deposit when/if you proceed. If you don't proceed you lose the $1,000. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. And its the one S****** use. I think alot of the larger builders put more on top of the original price to make more dollars. Just like they do for everything Re: HELP - First time building! 9Jun 25, 2009 12:42 pm I am sure there is a margin on the soil test however the initial $1000 non-refundable deposit for "soil testing and contour survey" at the start of the building process would have to also cover the administrative costs that the builder incurs all the way upto the initial tender appointment which is probably fair enough? Things like generating the docos, having staff price items and changes, estimating site costs, the time with the sales people etc.etc. Re: HELP - First time building! 11Jun 25, 2009 10:19 pm i am building with coral in nsw and paid $1600 for soil tests but it ocmes of the price of the house. We paid the $1000 for soil testing, but it covered everything up to contract stage and then it comes off the price of your first deposit payment. So wasn't really an issue for us. I guess it would only really be a problem if you pulled out and wanted it refunded, but so much work is put in drawing up estimates and plans (on top of soil testing) before contract I think it's pretty fair. Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8950 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site!
